Let's be honest, we all know McDonald is beyond cooked and we all want him to retire but realistically that's not going to happen unfortunately.

Being a long time servant of the club the club will want to be seen doing the right thing by McDonald.

He'll stay imo.
I wish he'd retire, he is so finished, but I definitely get this POV. You can't kick a guy out after 210 games when he's contracted and a Premiership player.

He should be playing CHB at Casey next year though. Get him out of Jefferson's way, and conversely give Adams a bit of help.

Don’t know if accurate but heard that T-Mac won’t be retiring 😕 . Man I hope that’s wrong !
He can’t possibly be attempting to play afl football ? We play grundy over him in both finals and we walk into a preliminary. I know that’s hard for some to accept. That’s reality.

You're not wrong.

Tmac has played one good game since his back injury in mid 2021. And that one good game was against a third string Eagles side.

His last good season was 2018. He lost his leap after his foot injury.

Basically he's conned the club out of five years of pay.

I would agree but I would like to add prior to his back injury in the 2021 season he started the season quite well. I think 2022 and 2023 he’s rendered beyond usable and should immediately retire. It’s not fair now as we played him 2 games in finals where we lost by a kick in both and he didn’t contribute

How annoying is it that Essendon get Peter Wright for a packet of chips who immediately turns into a gun and then as soon as he gets injured Kyle Langford goes from a c-grade nothing player to AA-squad worthy.

This is true, but also a part of the Essendon curse is their players being flash in the pans/teases for the last 2 decades.

Stringer/Joey Daniher/etc

Even 2MP didn't do much this year and Langford has had 8 years of being pretty average.

So how far back will pick 13 end up.

  • Pick 3 and 11 given to North will make it pick 15
  • Band 1 given to St Kilda after they rort free agency using Dylan Shiel will make it pick 16
  • 3 Academy kids for GC will make it pick 19
  • 1 academy kid to Bulldogs and one to Hawks will make it pick 21
  • North Sanders access will make it pick 22
Pick 13 turning into pick 22 is absolute trash and AFL may as well just do-in with the draft.

First round will probably push out to pick 28-30, and that’s not even including the other 2 North picks added to this draft from last year that Freo hold.

Absolute most compromised draft in history.

Poor old West Coast will take pick 1 and not get another pick until about pick 32 (Grahem, Doedee compo, North compo pick ect will all be around pick 30 as well).

Our Pick 24 will probably be close to pick 40

The draft has become completely stuffed I agree. However, the only way pick 13 falls back that many places is if none of the picks between 1 and 22 are used to match Academy/FS bids which won't happen.

Only if picks before 13 are used in bids which is unlikely

There's no way North will be given both pick 11 and Sanders for free, it will most likely be the former. Gold Coast will probably end up with either 9, 10 or 11 (if North get it) for pick 4. The alternative is we snare it in which case it's unlikely we have 13 anyway.

I’ve been reading up on the draft boards and it really makes a huge difference to who/what is going to be available for us.

One idea we might be able to float Gold Coasts way is 13 + F1 and our second rounders for King considering they need the points. Gold Coast could then even trade pick 4 and one of our picks to North for pick 2 or 3. Get an extra player before Walter is bid on plus their 3 academy kids.

King would be fantastic but I can’t see them letting him go before his contract is up. Particularly with their pending influx of kids.

They’d get good compo if he leaves next year anyway.

But yeh our picks this year are starting to look more valuable as points than for actual kids in the draft!

I can see us waiting it out then throwing another late Hail Mary to North and GC for one of the top 5 picks.

The compo system gets rorted so much the AFL really should just scrap it.
It should never have existed. It is so completely ludicrous that the draft can be compromised because 1 team took another team's player.

King would cost 5 and a F1 rather than 13. GC don't even need first round picks. All of their players are given to them a year in advance, so they just need a plethora of picks between 25-45. Its a ****ing rort.

5 would be useless to GC this year. The point of this trade would be to unlock a way for them to jump above a bid on Walter.

I hope they call North's bluff and offer just under the threshold for first round PP (for our sake)

If McKay was deciding out of the two and chose Essendon I dare say he went there for cash unfortunately.
