I respectfully think you are an idiot.

He does not make us better as evidenced by our year and how he was effectively dropped.

He also doesn't want to be here. He wants to play seniors and be the main man.

As for the money, no-one knows who we are targeting or if we are going to rejig some contracts with the freed up cash.

He makes our list better as a whole. More than a pick on the 30s will.

Not sure how you can argue that but here we have it. Even running with the personal insults. Classy.

He will get more senior oppos as Gawns body starts to give way which is probably pretty soon.

You can't "set the tone" during the trade period mate. Its not a game of footy, its a game of poker.

In cash game poker I always enjoyed setting the tone, you do something crazy early and make sure all your opponents see it, this way they have a different perception of you from the player that you actually are and will pay you off later. Its a brilliant strategy, setting the tone.

Sounds like he's had a falling out mate. Would be tough to keep him now. I don't think the duo was a total disaster as we won several games with them both playing (including against the Pies I'm pretty sure), but Gawn is more of a weapon on his own. Was probably worth a try, but better to move on after a year and get back a decent pick that we can offload on another player or a fairly highly rated kid.

Agree with others about Fullerton. Small sample size I've seen him doesn't fill me with any confidence. Need Verrall to take a stride this year. Looked ok.

I believe he will be a very good player but he is still very young. He absolutely could step up next year but it's still a lot of faith to put on a kid when you're trying to win a flag.
Your avatar gave me a big giggle.

Doesn’t sound like a falling out to me but may be good posturing.

Lamb said Grundy had “handled himself magnificently” in tough circumstances at Melbourne as he was left out of the Demons’ finals campaign.

“We acknowledge it was a difficult end to the season for Brodes, but he handled himself magnificently really, for a player of his calibre,” he said.

“He actually said how much he loves the place in his exit interview, he has said that he would like to get to Sydney … purely that’s a desire to play regular senior footy, which is what Sydney has obviously offered him.

“He is contracted and we don’t need him to go, and if we can’t get a deal done we’re more than comfortable for him to stay.”

Yeah lets run it back with Grundy and hold him against his will, he will 100% be a better player next year and beyond. His contract will look cheap by the end of it.

If Gawn goes down I rather have Grundy ready to go instead of Tmac or Fullarton.

As I said, unless we have someone else coming in to spend the cash on we are basically weakening our list/depth in our flag window to let him go for piss change while strengthening Sydney.

I too like investing 700k a year for 4 years into a backup ruckman and then wonder why we aren't making any trades.

Fair enough if we got a target to spend it going into 2024. But isn’t looking like we do.

He won’t be a backup ruck after 2024.

Hell, it would even surprise me if he is a backup ruck all of 2024

Just because Gawn ran campaigners like Soldo and Hickey into the ground doesn’t mean it’s the best ruck combo against every team either. He let Mason Cox give him a bath in Q1 of the finals.

Yeah fair call, Gawn will age and get worse but Grundy will age and get better.

He played more games and kicked more goals in 2023 then he did in 2022

He had injury clouds in 2022 and is fit in 2023

He got pushed out in 2022, Dees happy to keep him in 2023

But yeah, his worth less in 2023.

Our list is in no way stronger with him at Sydney for a pick 30. (If we have nowhere else to spend the cash).

He's now at a club that values what he brings to the table. 🤗

Goodwin picking Schache as sub in a final and not activating him in a 2 pt loss is Goodwin "setting the tone" for 2024 finals series. 4D Chess shit.

What you're saying is Tim Lamb should king hit Kinnear Beatson.

Grundy was busy in Adelaide or Sydney busy dealing with personal business at that time.

Give Grundy away for a future fourth, bring Fullerton in for pick 13. Clubs will start to think we are mad and the offers and trades will be flying around. Very exciting.

Would love to keep Grundy just for the year long sideshow it creates. We'd become the biggest pariahs in the comp forcing Bambi to play at Casey for another year.

Keeping Grundy would be a silly idea, he wants to play in the 1’s and paying a bloke 700k a year as an incase of emergency is a great way to **** our list.

Shame Melb are the drunk guy who sits down at the table at 1am on a Sat night and doesn't know the rules. Actually a more apt poker analogy of Melb both under Goodwin and in our list management atm is a player who sits down and is a total nit, plays a VPIP of 4 over 2 weeks, playing an average of 2 hands every 3 days and then check folding on the flop unless they flop the nuts.

Get a lil spicy pls Melb, 3 bet that 89s, go get TomaHawk and offer him 2 yrs, Schultz wants to get home but has nominated Coll? How back you ring his agent and say we'll offer an extra yr and an extra 100k each yr. You know, do some stuff that gives us the possibility of improving our team. Honestly feel like i could do a better job than Tim Lamb, i dont think all that much of myself but i think very very little of what Melb have done the past few years.

We won a flag on the back of taking risks, we traded a future first for the pick that netted us Kozzy, we traded 2 1sts, to get Lever, traded a first to get May, we were continually aggressive and along with some astute drafting it won us a premiership. Now we still have Jason Taylor and i have every faith he'll keep nailing what picks he has but we have to keep our foot on the pedal and get a few deals done to improve our team lest we find ourselves back in the middle of the pack next yr. It isn't rocket science, we have over a million a yr coming off the books with Grundy, Jordan. Harmes, Hibberd all coming off the books, we have to use that cap space i dont see why we wouldnt use it on Schultz & then a short term deal for one of TomaHawk or Darling, while we wait for our young guys to come on.

In regards to Schultz, he has said he wants to come back to VIC for family reasons, just because hes currently nominated COLL doesnt mean his mind cant be changed, Freo are currently saying that he's contracted and won't be traded and i have to think we have far more draft capital to offer them than Coll do. if we make a far better offer than Coll and Freo say to him you can go to Melb but not Coll because theyve offered us more then if he really wants to go home for family reasons he'll do it. Be ruthless dees, take risks, its how we became a force for all of 18 months, im worried weve gone back to being too nice again.

Imagine the media given the state it was in this year. :tearsofjoy:

Pariah spirit would be nice however

I know some of these words.
