Sorta, would mean GC can actually build a team of queenslanders who don't all * off and might actually sustain success. Means more Victorian kids should be available for the vic clubs too
Yeah, that's the prevailing logic I guess.

It's a tough one as it definitely widens the overall talent pool, I just think there either needs to be some restrictions on the volume of academy picks taken by a club in a single draft, or the bidding system needs to be fixed (i.e. picks over 25-30 don't hold any points value, or something like that).

Few missing steps here but in a nutshell

GWS had a shit year in 2013 and did pick swaps and got Cam Mcarthy at pick 14

GWS traded McCarthy and other picks for Freo pick 3

GWS used that to eventually snare Taranto after a pick swap with Brisbane for pick 2

GWS trade out Taranto for Richmond FF

GWS use that pick in 2023 draft to help with Gotham/Leake draft haul

Still reaping draft benefits from being shit 10 years ago.

Why would Clarko fly to WA and spend 2 hours at Curtins house in a meeting to only pick another player. Bizarre bloke.

Should only have interviewed or considered players North was going to take.

The draft is a bit of a joke now. I think they really need to rein in the academy picks. I think if they make finals they are more limited maybe to 2 in first round. Suns turned 24, 26, 27, 32, 36, 38 into 3,9,14 and 26. They did some other moves also but it’s a bit of a joke. Take off the 20% also. But perhaps limit to 2 per ND or maybe make it 2 in first 40 per ND. Could go further but that’s a start.

People wanted melts - I gave it to them. A good melt soothes the soul. it’s all just an absolute amateur’s opinion and what would I know etc. FWIW I’m hoping to be made to look a fool and both guys smash it.

Look, I'm the same but when we're desperate for KPPs and we selected mids to me it made no sense. Needed to get either Caddy, Curtin or O'Sullivan. Needed cover for May, Petty, BBB and TMac and hopefully if the AFL institutes a Mid-season trade/draft we can rectify it. If so, last night is all forgiven and I'll eat humble pie.

Why would a head coach do thorough research into who they're going to pick with a high draft pick? Really? That's your question?

It's hard to watch day 2 of the draft. We traded out 27 and 35 for next to nothing. It would've been good to get Mitch Edwards (206cm) to give us ruck depth and Tew Jiath, Billy Wilson and Cooper Simpson all look really nice. Fair to say we stuffed up but we were planning on something bigger with 6+11 which never eventuated.

Mate you spent all day telling me to trust the experts in charge when I was melting about this, now your saying the exact same thing.

And yes, we did stuff it up heavily, and it’s funny how we say draft talent drops off big time when all other clubs are still able to identify talent later down the pool.

Ollie Murphy got taken in the 40s, surely his worth a punt as a KPD. Shoenmaker still on the board.

Arie Schoenmaker still not selected yet, wouldnt mind him as a rookie pick if he makes it that far. Could be a bigger Trent McKenzie.

The "full time team" thought Grawndy was a good idea...

The football department is not infallible nor immune to criticism.

Apparently they are over here. Can't say a bad word about them.

Gotcha, never try anything

Gawd damn
Course geelong pick up The one mature rookie I was bullish on.
They picked Mannagh after his impressive BOG in the VFL grand final .
Great now I gotta watch him play for the team I wanna see him at the least.
