I'd bite way before then. Articles are saying they want picks to trade eagles for pick one, they can take every draft pick that we own for the next 2 years as far as I'm concerned. We've got enough promising young kids at the moment. Cross the Rubicon, live off the rookie draft for a couple of years and let Oliver and Grundy lay waste to the midfields of our enemies.

Sheldrick will have more impact at the Swans in 2024 than Oliver.
This is true if they're both in different teams next year. I think that sheldrick is an exceptional young talent. Oliver is a proven, every-game-gun who is pretty much untaggable. If Gus is outshining him it'll be because Clarry is clearing the way with two of the opposition's best mids draped all over him.

If you hear a loud scream it will be me trying to mod the Oliver thread....

Rumours are circulating internally that ticky disagrees with the draft board's handling of the Oliver thread and may be gettable by the Swans board.

You saw through me. I believe there is less than 1% chance that Clarry or Oliver will be at the Swans next year. Beatson is not that stupid. Talent alone is not enough. Why is Melbourne fielding offers. Vultures are circling because the smell of demise is on the rise. The Swans don't like distractions because it causes problems in the club if not this year than next year. Team chemistry is very important and Melbourne's actions imply that he is having an adverse affect on the team.
So good luck and high hopes to you all and happy dreams for the next few weeks thinking Clarry will be a Swan.
But Beatson knows it will end in a nightmare. At some stage.

Hmmmm.

On the field AFL player Clayton Oliver is what I want.

However, would be kicking all the tyres and turning all the rocks on him before even approaching the dees.

Signing a player to $1m a year for seven years and then potentially trade them out year one into that contract is a big red flag to me.

And of some of the rumblings are true, could cause issues off field which impact team performance

Asides, doubt we have the ammo and Dees would want r1 this year, next year and likely someone like Logan or Warner (which would be the going price)

If it's pick 1 they want, the only way I can think we could get it done is by trading Chad and Logan, with Corey as steak knives to WCE, who then send 1 to Dees, who in turn send Oliver to us.

Hard no from me.

Umm ok but he's already shown he can perform at a standard way above high performance.
3 x AA, 4 x b & f, a flag and two x AFL.coaches award.
So clearly beatsons so called "test" had absolutely zero bearing on reality..
I'm sure plenty of people passed his "test" and never played a single AFL.game.
It's clearly horse s**t.
People are all different and respond in different ways to different things.
A good club is able to get a wide variety of people and have them reach their personal peak performance.
Not decide on one type of person and only recruit that one personality type.
Huh?
Beatson made those comments well before he’d achieved any of those things…. before being drafted. And at the time he self confessed to be overweight.

Who says we don’t? It’s just an example. It’s a test, nothing is absolute.
