I don’t agree picks 25-35 are the weaker part of the draft.
another I like that’s similar to Edwards and Windsor is Freigah…there are a number of quality picks in our range.
another running half back/intercept player I like is Zane Zakostelsy to fill the fill the roles of Doc and McGov in the near future. Very good hands, leg speed and disposal.

Thought one of his knocks was disposal?
❌ against those that are not skilled enough with their hands & feet.
With ball in hand, Zakostelsky’s disposal is sound, and his kick is quite penetrating and effective when clearing congestion from a stoppage. However, coming out of defence, his short kicking will be an area for improvement going forward.

My feel after some conversations is our preference is to get a really good draftee we target and then possibly another mature player

I've heard from two VFL contacts that Shaun Mannagh is a very good chance this year, probably as a rookie. Both were pretty dismayed that he hasn't been given a shot before and is well ahead of other VFL pick ups like Mick Gibbons and Robbie McComb when they were drafted. He's apparently been spoken to by Carlton, Melbourne and West Coast

I think Mannagh gets on a main list somewhere given the shallowness of this draft.

Westcoast have 37 and 58. I suspect they want to use at least their 1st 3 picks on kids so 58 more likely. Melbourne has 42.

I'm not sure he fits us as much now we have taken Fantasia. Would prefer we grab 2 kids if there are 2 we rate.

Wouldn't be upset if we take him though. We would probably try to upgrade 22 a few spots in exchange for downgrading 28 to a late 30s / early 40s pick if we wanted to go that way.

Bit random but ran into Caleb windsors mum last night. Remarkably said gws are really keen on him

Don’t know if she was being super honest or not (she had a few) but doubt you would make it up

Does that mean he’s bolting or more likely with their second selection?

Picked him there for GWS in my Phantom on the previous page. Got a vibe from Adrian Caruso interview that he's right in the mix. GWS don't necessarily take best available, but best available for GWS. Who are pretty unique.

Their pick will be one of the most interesting early ones.

Fast players that can get the ball forward quickly. Kingsley, like Macrae uses the same form of attack that Hardwick did when Richmond were on top. No one could stop them getting the ball forward. Not surprised at all that GWS are interested in someone like Windsor.

Durdin
Motlop
Fantasia
Owies
Fogarty

Can’t see any need for Mannagh …
Before Fantasia - we had quite a few games where 3 of them played - so only one left for injury - not many spare really.

Mannagh would not be a bad pick, but I prefer two kids now with EH & OF added

I have Mannagh ahead of Owies and Fogarty. If we can improve our list by adding a mature player, I’d say we will.

Thing is, Owies and Fogarty are already contracted Carlton players along with Durdin Motlop and Fantasia.
Do we really need 6 contracted small forwards?
Reckon the list spot can be better utilised elsewhere …

If we could move up the draft board this year with 22 and a F1 to get the player we really want with a pick around 10, I’d have no issues with taking Mannagh with 28. Really think the guy could be a very sensible inclusion to a squad good to go at a premiership.
Potentially, we could even trade up with our first pick at 22, and trade down with our second if we wanted to bring in a 'higher quality' draft pick and a mature player.

I'm pretty sure that somewhere along the line, we need to bring in a future 3rd if we want to trade our future 1st. I could see someone like Richmond who would like to trade up this year - something like our pick 28 for pick 41 + future 3rd.

Pick 41 would put us well in the frame for a Mannagh; the future 3rd gives us more points next year for the Campo's, and allow us to package up pick 22 and our future 1st if we want to move up the board.

I can still see either GWS or the Cows as being clubs who may be open to a trade with their second picks - being 16 and 14 respectively. I can't see any other clubs who have picks inside those would want to trade - possibly the Cats if they're looking to get trade capital for next year - but we know they'd be asking a king's ransom for that pick.

It's all pie in the sky stuff really, but that's what this time of the year is all about....

You could be right but we already have plenty of youth on our list.

We do have Owies, Cuningham, Durdin, Fogarty, Martin and EHollands all out of contract at the end of 2024. We won’t be keeping all of them.

We need another Ruck option and KPD with the attributes required to fill AFL seniors in 2/3 years or so. We’re a little vulnerable and may become exposed going forward , footy is a hard, unpredictable game, we’ll need bolstering going forward
