Kennedy is levels above Dow as a footballer. There is nothing to talk about if Kennedy is fit. In a big final when it is desperate, I want Kennedy. Dow mania is touching on the irrational
Kennedy has not played for two months, highly unlikely we bring another player potentially underdone for a final.

Dow has been good given the opportunity, has alot of upside whether that is Carlton or another club next year.

Kennedy will be too slow in the wet.

Nup - wet brings the game back to the slower players - he'll revel.......

Haha wow levels above? I'm not sure Kennedy could ever do what Dow does TBH re breakaway speed at stoppages. Kennedy is good at head down forcing his way through clearances, something Dow has done quite well.

Just for a little clarity, Dow is second only to Cripps and even with Cerra in average clearances, and that takes into account the games where he came on as sub and only played 30-40 minutes. Nothing irrational about that they are the facts.

I'm sure many have written Dow off many a time myself included, time to put that behind you. He will make a player, whether it be with us or some other lucky club.

Like comparing Mike Tyson to Bruce Lee, 2 totally different ways to beat the sh1t out of them.

Kennedy is a topliner, don't think the MC have put a line through him for this year yet. Maybe he will be first cab off the rank, if we need him to replace a mid who could potentially suffer an injury. Or maybe They will play him as sub on Friday night, in conditions where he should really excel.

Still think it'll be very largely dry come game time.

And those winds will dry the surface out nicely.

For those who know Melbourne, how often does most of the rain come overnight (or early hours of the morning) and it peters out during the day...?

Different situation if there are injuries but that is not the case this week with all midfield options available.

Also feel the MC would have played Kennedy against GWS if he was in contention to get a hitout.
Cerra & Walsh clearly needed a hitout last game not sure you can have another one in a final that has missed significant time out.

Cold, wet and against an experienced finals team.
We need bodies built for smashing into things.
Exactly Passy, this is why I think Hollands will be left out this week. Have huge respect for the kid and what he has achieved in this, his first season.

Finals is a whole new ball game and we do need strong mature bodies, who will hold up and thrive.

Sydney have a terrible record at the G in recent years and not sure they'll be acclimatised, at all, to the cold.

That'll work strongly in our favour. Sydney's a lot warmer/nicer than here weather wise.

And the rain....hope we don't get sucked in by the 'threat' and go small/short...

I really think we need to play Pitto with TDK.

Hickey simply won't be able to go with Tom around the ground.

Now a sunny day at the G v the Pies is a different story. I’d play him then for sure.

Vossy on afl360 last night said that he didn't care at all about the weather. He had no interest in guessing how bad that the weather might be. I genuinely think that he knows what the team will be. He was asked about playing Pitto. Was non committal but my take was that he is defintely playing. It's not like a bit of rain will effect his marking.:D

Its more that we are the best team in the comp at scoring from clearances particularly centre bounces. The Swans are one of the worst at the same thing. And (quoting from others here) apparently we have the best percentage of scoring from centre bounces in the comp when Pitto is in the ruck.

Interesting on 360 when questioned last night re Pittonet Voss said they were trying something different vs GWS which to me says Pitto straight back in this week. When questioned on whether the weather would make any difference re the inclusion of Pitto Voss said no. Make of that what you will but sounds like he's an auto in for mine.

Conditions dont worry me, the best sides win in tough conditions. We are a strong contested team so as long as Voss gets selections right and we play the right way, ie territory over finesse.
The keys for us will be, stopping Gulden if he has more than 20 possesions in the first half we will be in trouble, he is far too damaging by foot, although if conditions are wet it will lessen the impact. I think Cotterell is the right match up here.
Blakey, just need to stop his run and hurt him on the rebound, perhaps Owies needs to play a little more defensively minded if he starts to get a heap of ball.
Papley - Newman just needs to clamp him.
Heeney - Gov prob best match up.

If we win these battles we win. cmon you faaarkin blues....
