McInerney shouldn't even be sub. He's nowhere near the level required tonight.
In fairness the Blues have made the MCG small with their pressure all around the ground, but 4 possessions, 1 mark, 1 tackle for 50 meters gained in a half simply isn't cutting it for McInerney. Stephens would have at least had it 12 times by now and kept himself busy.

Clearly the selection call a bad one in hindsight. You wonder why it was made, not like McInerney has been setting the world on fire this year.

This game just highlights where our problems lie and its not in the key defender position. We are getting next to nothing from Hickey around the ground - we desperately need an improvement there next year. We're getting smashed around the ball with Parker, Mills, RB and Chad just giving us no drive forward (although having Hickey as our ruck doesn't help). Our ground level work all over the park but especially in defence is so poor. I feel like every time the ball hits the ground in our D50, a Carlton small is going to swoop on it and kick a goal. Of our boys, McCartin and Melican are doing a good job. McLean is our most effective forward. Heeney has been ok. For me, that's about it.

If we're going to win this, get Mills off the tag job. Heeney on ball, Parker forward. We need all the boys to lift, kick straight. We're still in this, only just, but if we continue with the shite that we dished up, Blues will win in a canter.
