Gold Coast Suns reportedly to play Essendon in Darwin for 2nd week of Doug Nichols Round. Great news for the hordes of Bomber communities in those regions to get around their heroes and Bombers strengthening ties with their ties with the NT.

**** that

I tolerated it in 2022 as they couldn't fulfil their contract in 2021, so they were making up for the previous year.

But doing it next year? **** that shit.

thats farked if thats counted as two home games - down to 9 here on the gold coast ifthats the case - great for local fans they wanna join up as members and engage with

it better be 1 home and 1 away
No way Essendon are selling a game to the NT, but they will be the only one benefiting from the press of the event.

yeh so maybe its our other opponent - or if port or crows maybe as they get extra home in magic round this is away for them too - two away teams in terms of the "11" home games

In the first instance you’re right. Essendon wouldn’t be lured by the financial windfall. However, Essendon were awoken by those big crowds of red & black that packed stands in Tassie / Perth (and Dreamtime in Darwin) in 2021 to such an extend the Club was open to exploring how it could possibly reach its national following in a way that doesn’t compromise its members home game suite interests. Noted, it was more in relation to taking Dreamtime type marquee fixtures around the nation.

Two reasons why your point is most likely correct. Firstly it’s understood Essendon are scheduled to meet the Suns at Marvel in round 2, meaning the NT fixture would be a Suns home game. Secondly, it’s not a marquee game (yet).

Broadly I’m assuming EFC are open to exploring the concept of playing footy across the country to capitalise on the commercial opportunities (interstate membership / national sponsorship opportunities) and to reward its national fanbase. It would be a great partner for The Suns to create a new marquee fixture supporting indigenous round. An opportunity for The Suns if they want it and can manage it with their Goldy members.

The Suns would be strong beneficiaries of creating a marquee fixture during Indigenous round. Essendon are the big club in the Top end, it would ensure a full house, widespread media coverage and opportunity for the Suns to expand their following and community programs beyond QLD (Essendon connect with their following and benefit the same way).

Adelaide/Port fans have to fight with everyone else for tickets.

It's more like finals where it could end up 75/25 rather than 95/5.

I think you'll be screwed over. Shouldn't. But will.

Wondering whether the draw might not even be out tomorrow. Would have expected more leaks by now.

If it Is coming out tomorrow I'd expect serious leaks today and tonight but we may be waiting till next week

Looks like the Crows are heading to the top end
