Just saw vision of the Kossy “dolphin” dive off the ground on Smith.
What does he get? Surely with all these pending concussion suits against the AFL we’re going to take the action into account, not just the consequences?

Yeah was wondering about Ben Long. Anyone watch that game, was he on the back flank? The AFL match report has him in the Sun's best, but checking his stats he had 13 touches and one mark. 🤔

Ben King with 5 touches. 😳

Yeah the whole leaving the ground thing to go the bump should see him get quite a few weeks I'd say. It's seems exactly the kind of action they're trying to get out of the game.

Nah nothing to it.

Clearly the only reason Smith played on was that Kozzie was so much in control that he knew he could leap off the ground and shoulder charge in such a way that he wouldn't cause any actual injury to Smith.

He was very very ordinary against Melbourne that's for damn sure. Turned over nearly every kick I saw him take. Just spitballing but maybe less ridiculous GQ "fashion" shoots, more practice footballing?

I’ll be disappointed if the demons have a dynasty run. I’m already so tired of them, and find them boring to watch. No doubt they’re a great team but it’s just not entertaining for some reason, something about how consistent their stars are, if you have seen one Melbourne win, you’ve seen them all.

And the trouble is the only teams that could upset them this year are probably Geelong or Pies, who I hate even more!

Maybe Port, Brisbane, Sydney but they’re all boring narratives as well.

Need an under dog team to rise the ranks and challenge, hopeful the saints (lol), but looks like if any two teams are going to move into the 8 it’s Port Adelaide and Carlton.

Not a bad year for us to drop down the ladder (if it occurs naturally), we will probably need a transition year anyway, might as well enjoy higher draft picks and playing our promising kids whilst other teams are challenging for that 8th spot.

That being said, I think we win a lot of games this year, have always thought this list was highly capable, just scared of being stuck at 9th place!

I hate how as a club and supporters we think like this and think its acceptable, we have played 1 finals series in 10+ years and have had plenty of chances at higher draft picks but are still in the same position we were 10 years ago.

Finishing 8th and playing a final maybe 2 will be so good for development for our whole list and more important then getting pick6 then 12

Yeah he doesn't seem like a good fit for them, he looked better at Freo when he was the main key forward.

At the Dogs he is competing with Naughton, JUH and Darcy up forward and that set up didn't work tonight at all, with all of them being pretty ordinary.

I would give us a shot of beating them next week even with our depleted line up, if we were at full strength I would definitely back us to beat them.
Ptsd of going with some bulldogs family members then losing by 100+ points a couple years ago. Was a shit car ride home

He was lucky Smith got straight up. When you consider the potential to cause serious injury that’s the exact type of action the AFL wants to take out of the game.

I understand what you’re saying and I agree and have said similarly in the past, but all I’m saying is I think it’ll be a tough year with lots of teams being top 8 worthy.

We have a relatively easy draw IMO, so I think we can push if it all comes together, but I had higher expectations last season then this one.

Should we not finish in the 8 then I personally won’t be bothered, and am thinking more long term then that. Because whilst I think we can be competitive with the best, I also reckon we are still a way off consistent flag contender, and that’ll probably take time… though I certainly won’t complain if we manage it this season.

In the meanwhile yes, should we end up in the bottom end of the ladder, I will enjoy taking more high dps to the draft and seeing our youth core build.

Bombers a rabble as ever, all the backstage infighting and power struggles are mildly amusing. 🥴

And now it seems they've lost Wright and Stringer for the first half of the season. 😳 Now more important than ever is the need for weide. 🙄

Round 3, the big 150 celebration game, with all the press, the big buildup etc, makes me very nervous already. 😕

We’ll lose by a margin of 150 to commemorate the occasion

Wtf is buddy doing lol

I believe this is a marking attempt into brace into oh shit moment where Buddy was actually in correct position for the ball drop. I like to think that Buddy went to make the contest, realised that he's old and his legs no worky like they used to, got sad, then mad, then realised "wait, I might get weeks" and straight aborted any attempt to be a footballer all in that single effort. Like one big "nope" and just walk it off.

Meanwhile, Suns being Suns, heard someone coming from behind, felt under the ball, shit himself and went to fall over backwards tactic as stop, drop and get kneed in the back of the head as Dewy is a thinker...

GCS in that match outside of like maybe the last 10 minutes of it where they almost doubled their score were;

1. Contest a midfield on reset; sometimes miss the ball completely.
2. If contest is favourable, handball 47 times, half of them at the ground, players feet or 20m either side of them.
3. Get goals out the back after throwing bodies at all the things and hoping for the best.

No GCS player had a great game when Swans score 73 points from GCS stuffing up. They are directionless, and anyone in that best grouping is "they at least tried". But I suppose, Witts had presence, Rowell tried and did OK, I didn't see Levi do anything, for a marking bot he was so invisible, Chol was thee contesting, just yeah, disposal was horrible and there wasn't much of them in the F50 for 3/4 of the match, Long got a clearance but Miller got 7, again most of these were handball chains, GCS was not great.

so yes, Long started on D50 line, but he was part of that mess that was GCS midfield where you had Miller and Rowell trying to contest and everyone else just went "weee" running in circles handballing to themselves and Witts was the only big man on their end doing much of anything worth a damn.

Really don't think stuart dew is the man to lead them

In current context, he is for that club so long as it remains kinda suburban and kinda "we're just happy to be here", which GCS still is in AFL parlance, essentially they got told how the AFL stuffed them, do better and go solo and we have a Bears aspect at current and it's grand. The minute that GCS as an entity actually want to play the game and be a club, then Dew gets his many mini fridges and GTFO's.

Actually there is no issue at all leaving the ground as long as you miss the head. It’s about grading and leaving the ground doesn’t matter. A week I’d say. I don’t think the player was injured.
