Gold Coast aren’t folding. They make money for the afl. If you are saying that about players leave Gold Coast then Tassie would be worse. I know if I was 21 where I’d rather live.
True , but if your from Tassie it could be a different matter - the Geelong go home factor - they do produce very good players - Hudson , Baldock , Riewoldt etc.

They will need a lot more players than just Tassie players. Probably as many Queenslanders in the Gold Coast side as Tassie will have.

Could well be the case but when I worked in Queensland I found hardly anyone followed the AFL and keeping one team going was a tough enough job , bringing in the Suns was way to early - they would of been better with a team in WA , SA or NT.

Tassie have a few players who would look at going back - Fremantle's Captain said he would look at it if it came about and guys like Webster and the likes would need much convincing to head back home.

And looking at the Suns local players in there squad they have 4 on there list from there academy.

Yep and that’s about all Tassie will have. Anyway it’s either a new side in Tassie or no side. I’d rather no side but it seems certain to happen. Tassie have made it clear they aren’t having any side relocate. And you are right about not many following afl in queensland but that isn’t really the issue. It’s about getting kids to play so we have more players that could be good enough to play afl in Australia

They need to move the Suns to Tassie - I expect the membership and crowd attendance would be far better , maybe no by much but better.
The history of players like Hudson , Baldock , Riewoldt shows the produce players.
Ian Stewart, Verdun Howell, Barry Lawrence, Laurie Nash, Royce Hart, Darrin Pritchard, Alistair Lynch, Rodney Eade, Michael Roach, Paul Williams, Matthew Richardson… and that’s just from their TotC…

Pickett, Franklin, now Shane McAdam… few blokes looking at a serious holiday from the MRO already, and Round 1 isn’t even over yet!

Not to mention Jeremy Howe

For amusements sake… the current Tassie AFL side;

B: Webster - Pearce - Kolodashnij
HB: C.Jones - Gardner - Howe
C: Weller - **** - Hall
HF: Menzie - Mihocek - Fox
F: **** - Riewoldt - B.Brown
Foll: Nankervis - Greenwood -

Int: Phillips Cowan Mansell S.Campbell
It ain’t great… 😂

Agree with what you are saying but we have a whole bunch of quality players getting to the age where they could make massive improvement - Battle , King , Higgins , Clark , Bytel , Coffield and that is not even looking at Windhager , Owens , Milera and the likes - also players who have been far from consistant and if the game plan and coaches can fix that we should make a vast improvement or is that being to hopeful.

It could definitely be us that make a huge leap. It happens and often from nowhere. My Richmond mate bagged the club, their list, Hardwick....then all of a sudden they were winning their third premiership. Melbourne were there too, Brisbane.... Just have to hope we get our suck of the bottle.

Southport should have got the licence. They are a stronghold of AFL in Qld. They didn't want to piss off the other club's fans but missed an opportunity to go in with really strong backbone.

Whatever happens this year I'm really looking forward to seeing Owens , Windhager , Milera , King , Higgins , Clark players and showing us what they have.

GWS and Suns have had the pick of so many drafts but just can't keep players - is it because being in a state with family and friends just settles the players more - I don't know , but the Suns have had more than there share of drug problems and injuries - they just can't seem to handle the kids they get into the club.

A big part of it is building a culture. Sydney were there until pretty much Paul Roos came along and created a persona and a club environment that people wanted to be part of. Now they are one of the best and probably close to the Storm for best run club in the country.

Taylor Walker is an historic level of ****ing moron.

It's amazing how many good players have come out of the place - Mathew Richardson , Riewoldt , Royce Hart , Baldock , Hudson , M. Roach , Ian Stewart , Brent Crosswell , Alistar Lynch.

Produce some great forwards.

One of the Adelaide posters over on their gameday thread called Tom Doedee a dust mite.

I have made a mental note of it and will use it during the season.

We seem so keen to call sides good and bad after one round yet one half sees a completely different idea of a sides ability. Unbelievable win by gws with all those injuries during a game.

I tipped GWS to win but I was regretting it at half time, great comeback in the 2nd half especially with all their injuries.

Early days but Kingsley looks like he could be a good coach for them, they were getting stale with Leon Cameron there for so long.

Toby Greene could be a good captain for them too as long as he cuts out the dumb stuff that gets him suspended, he is a natural leader on the field.
