They'll be straight into the bath water again after this game. Look at them after they beat West Coast... organised themselves an open top bus tour down Pigdon St and commissioned a statue of Curnow.

Any sympathy for a club that tried to shut ours down is sickening.
I used to live on Pigdon St about 20 years ago. It was nice to see its name come up! Ah, memories

Just had a look over at the Port board, and they're still determined for Hinkey to get sacked.

I thought my takes were deranged.
I don't really blame them too much. I went over there a month or so ago and asked them why they still wanted Hinkley gone and they rattled off all the great starts to seasons they've had. One year they were 11-1 or something and missed finals lol.

They are just so fed up that a premiership is the only acceptable result for them this year.

Listened to Kochie on Kane and Kingy’s show, I knew this already but f*ck he sucks. Muppet sounding w***er. What a way to run the re-signing process, do it in August but say it’s based on “the entire season” lmao

To be fair we signed Ratts mid year and probably should have waited until august.

FWIW I don't think Hinkley has it in him to take them to a flag anyway and probably should've been given the arse a couple years ago. He reminds me of Ratten. Just a good bloke who the players love but historically his tactically inept. What we went through last year (starting 8-3 and missing finals) is what has happened to Port for several years now. I reckon we'd be ropeable if we had to go through multiple years of our 2022 season.

It was never going to happen though. It's what I was saying last year - regardless of if people wanted him re-signed or not, it was always going to get done (a decision being made) well before the end of the season. It's not industry practice to wait that long but I'm not surprised Port are doing it because I reckon they are a poorly run club despite their success this year.

Yeh I think we discussed that but I just don’t agree with the practice. Results are made in June/July and it’s not like anyone was desperate to poach Ratts. Hinkley maaaaaaaybe but our decision was pretty silly and we looked pretty silly when we sacked him for Ross a few weeks after the ink was dry.

We announced the Ratten re-signing on July 7 last year and I'd say a decision was made a week or two before that, so probably around this time last year (Round 13/14/15) which is normal and what I expected. Some were petitioning for Round 20 or later which would've been great in an ideal world but barely ever happens in footy. I think Port are going to make a total mess of this situation. They should put faith in him now and bite the bullet or make plans for 2024 with perhaps a succession plan into Josh Carr. Can't imagine what it'll be like over there if they re-sign him in August and then get bounced out in the finals.

They have a very good list now and much better than anything that they've had for years. Cripps took them backwards to go forward without losing much ground. Their fans are blue balling but they need to harden the **** up and try being us. Like Geelong, I reckon that they just need to keep going to the well and eventually they'll win one. I reckon they are almost favourites for me this year. They have so many avenues to goals and depth on every line.

Surely we look like hypercrits criticising Port after what happened to Ratten last year? Koche is doing the right thing IMO, its a grand final or bust. If they werent going so well Hinkley would have been moved on already. If they get to August and there is a better option avalable then they stretch it out until the seasons done. Nothing wrong with keeping Hinkley on edge, if he choses to leave as a result then thats on him.

Remember Choco Williams he was looking down the gun that year they won the flag. Thats not suggesting I want them to suceed, but sometimes clubs acheive their best results when under that sort of pressure.

Thought they were better in 2020 and should've won the flag. Finished on top with a prelim final on their home deck and lost by a goal.

Their supporters are pissed off because they've blown so many golden opportunities. In a way the decision to not re-sign Hinkley until August shows how little they trust him. If any other coach took his side to 12-2 in a OOC year he'd be snapped up quick.

If I was a Pirt supporter I would rather Hinkley over the clown 🤡 that is Koch

Yep agree, this is why I think they are poorly run. Koch is an absolute dickhead.

I’m aware of the timelines, we still looked ridiculous and aside from convention had absolutely no reason to sign him.

2020 was a bullshit year. Pretty much an asterisk premiership.

Richmond said it was the hardest one they'd won because of what the players had to go through. Think it deserves some credence.

Any Premiership is hard to win but the games were short and the season was short. It really only ran to make sure that the AFL didn't have to return the television rights payments.

Every team played under the same rules basically. It's been quickly forgotten just how hard that year would have been for the players.

It's an endurance sport not an exam though. It was barely taken seriously by some clubs while the players spent 3 months rooting their way around the hubs. It was hard but not in a sporting sense.
