Just prioritise… eg. Briggs.
Harry is a 187cm, kicking player trapped in a 195cm body. His contest work is below average.
How many times have you seen him take a contested mark against a player of his own size. Add to that, I’ve seen him get outmarked so often.
If he didn’t have great kicking he wouldn’t be on the list.
He doesn’t provide run… doesn’t have a great tank.
He can take a fantastic hangar if no one is on him. That’s why he can’t be a one or two forward.
I’d rather us use the money to spend on Briggs.

Damien Barrett thinks Himmelberg will be gone by year's end if he hasn't committed to us by now, and that the Swans are interested.
Barrett has thought a lot of things in the past, barely ever correct.

Not saying he won’t leave but Barret isn’t the final nail

I really don’t mind if he goes… we will be over compensated. Getting top ten pick for him is a great outcome.
yes and no.
Agree top 10 is excellent compensation. Continues the cycle of continuing bringing in lots of early picks, but being a little young all the time and struggling to fit all the kids in.

Pros and cons either way.

I think he is a lot better than that.

We might hear some re-signing news in the next month or so but personally not at all confident that either of Himmelberg or Riccardi re-sign.
Also seems that the club lacks faith in Derksen developing.

So if that's the case you would think we would look at a key forward option with one of our first rounders, and to also take McCormack as an academy selection later in the draft.

Hearing that Hawks are coming hard for Riccardi (although their posters aren't convinced, and to them he's a short-term & expendable option). HH's suitors' have been well documented.

Don’t think we’ll be losing HH, Riccardi and Derksen. That makes no sense.

Unfortunately, these sorts of stories feed the morons on some boards (Hawks, Norths looking at you!) who think we'll hand over our first round pick for them to take him off our hands! A good player and an early pick! Morons (read the ****ing story properly!!)!!

GWS has shown no inclination to trade the talented Whitfield and has significantly improved its salary cap position after losing Tim Taranto, Jacob Hopper, Tanner Bruhn and Bobby Hill last off-season.

But Whitfield’s situation is vastly different to Bowes given he is well established at GWS and they have cap space to retain him even as his salary hits $1.1 million or more next year.

Greater Western Sydney half back Lachie Whitfield has emerged as a trade target for rival clubs as they consider whether they could absorb his significant back-ended salary. Whitfield’s lucrative seven-year contract running through to 2027 is believed to average around $900,000 a season but in the next two years hits a figure above $1.1 million. The Herald Sun understands clubs have asked about his contract position and inquired about whether absorbing most of his salary would allow them to secure him without giving back an early pick in return.

GWS has shown no inclination to trade the talented Whitfield and has significantly improved its salary cap position after losing Tim Taranto, Jacob Hopper, Tanner Bruhn and Bobby Hill last off-season. But while Whitfield has enjoyed a solid year after battling through much of 2022 with a serious ankle injury he has not been at his eye-catching, line-breaking best under new coach Adam Kingsley. Whitfield has featured in the AFLCA coaches votes only once this year when he was awarded six coaches votes for his performance in the GMHBA Stadium win over the Cats in round 11.

Clubs would have to believe they are in the premiership window to make a play for Whitfield given he turns 29 next month. Clubs with vast cap space including Hawthorn, Essendon and North Melbourne would be less inclined to make a play for him given his age and their age demographics. Hawthorn is one club interested in the kind of Jack Bowes salary cap dump that could see them securing an early pick to take on the salary of a rival player. But Whitfield’s situation is vastly different to Bowes given he is well established at GWS and they have cap space to retain him even as his salary hits $1.1 million or more next year.

All the article is saying is that shitty vic clubs want a free ride like the cats got for a muncher better player that isn’t up for trade.

I mean where do we sign up and attach our 3 first rounders to the deal in exchange for pick 58 and some salary cap relief that we don’t need 🤷‍♂️

I don't think that either us or North deserve a top 10 pick for Himmelberg or McKay. I think there will be pressure from the other clubs for that to be the case.

If himmelberg leaves, more money for Riccardi. Why doesn't riccardi resign? Are we only offering say 2 years at 250k a year or something?

If they want him, we should at least get a future 2nd.

They need to stop paying these guys stupid salaries to lure them out then. The easiest way to not generate the compensation is to not recruit the player .

Hey Giant Strides, is the salary cap still tight or has it eased after losing Taranto and Hopper?

Just noting in last weeks Herald Sun article, Giants had 7 players on or over the $700,000 mark and two over $1m.

That is a lot considering we aren't sure what Hogan, Tom Greene and the next batch of guys have or are signing on for.

Salary cap is still $13.2m?

I heard Toby Greene is on $4 million a year from Damo at the local last night, were gonna have to salary dump Kelly, Cogs, Whitfield, Taylor and Callaghan now!!!!
