Dr Jekyll and Dr Frankenstein?

Yeah thanks Bass you *
Mate, he can only tell you what he knows!

I have just been there ... Farrell has to have an MRI for his. You dont walk out the door with the result like you do for an xray or ultrasound. While the MRI is conducted by a trained radiologist, you have to wait for the MRI to be reviewed by the specialist doctor to interpret the findings, then type up the report, which will then be sent to the club.

They might have the result by tonight, but more than likely tomorrow morning.

I hope we are not going to another bout of - Charlie Dixon Knee Assess on the official PAFC injury list. Charlie a has a habit of getting almost right and staying there for a month.

MITCH GEORGIADES will miss the rest of the 2023 season after confirmation he has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

Georgiades was stretchered from the field after landing awkwardly while attempting a mark in the second quarter of the SANFL game at Unley Oval on Sunday and the injury was confirmed following medical imaging on Monday.

“It’s really unfortunate that Mitch will now miss a significant period of football,” said Head of Medical Services, Tim O’Leary.

“He’ll see a surgeon in coming days to organise reconstructive surgery and then spend several months rehabilitating.

“We know an ACL is a tough injury for any footballer but Mitch is a really positive person who attacks training hard and we know he’ll attack his rehab in the same way.”

As previously confirmed, defender Kane Farrell has had surgery to repair a broken cheekbone.

Farrell suffered the injury in the second quarter of Port Adelaide’s AFL win over West Coast on Saturday. While he was able to play out the game, an x-ray on Sunday revealed the fracture. He’s likely to miss at least two matches.

Forward Todd Marshall is also unavailable for Friday night’s meeting with St Kilda as he progresses through the mandatory concussion protocols. Marshall left the field in the second quarter of the win over the Eagles and didn’t return following an accidental head knock.

Fellow big man Charlie Dixon could be in the frame to return from a knee injury which kept him out on the weekend but will need to prove his fitness later in the week to take on the Saints.

Dixon was close to playing against West Coast and the club is optimistic of a return this week if he gets through training on Wednesday.

Port Adelaide will name its selected side for Friday night’s match at Marvel Stadium on Thursday evening at 5:50pm ACST.

I was told by someone he'd been playing with a PCL - or has one - apparently you can play with it? Not 100% on how true all of that is but I guess we will see.

Whilst knee injuries aren't the same career ending as pre 1990's, they affect different players in different ways.

There is no way to tell whether Mitch's career will be ruined, or he will come back bigger and better.

Unfortunately there have been a lot of examples of you do it once, you do it a second time. Michael Wilson and Josh Francou both did it the first time in a game and then a few months later near the end of preseason during training. Or you overcompensate and do the other one.

But Robbie Gray did win 3 B&Fs and 4 AA's after his knee reco and Tim Watson won 2 B&F's and made 1989 VFL team of the year after missing almost 2 full seasons after his knee reco in 1986. A few other players have won B&Fs after doing an ACL.

Its just the luck of the draw how bad it is, and well you recover from the operation.
