... akin to the Bowes debacle last year.

If Hollands had never been drafted and he ended up in the SANFL next year and racked up everyone on this board would be like get him, get him followed by a sad face because they realise we don't have pick 1 in the mid season draft.

He's worth a shot for sure, the price you pay matters a bit too tho. First round, no way, early second, maybe, late second and later def yes.

And they have Rowell, Anderson, Miller, Flanders, Davies and a few others that have pushed themselves ahead of him.

He had a superior ceiling to Hately and I would be ok with trying him here to see if he can recapture his junior promise

Its more like he doesnt want/like GC. I'd say that plays into his form as well. Wouldn't have been happy with how Dew treated him, got the shits, King gave him games to try and turn it around and make him stay/see what he had, unsurprisingly after being demotivated for 18+ months he couldn't output top draftee form and didn't want to hang around and so they pulled him out again. Now there's no point for GC to sugar coat it, the dude wants out, so might as well make it clearly known to all and sundry and get a bidding war going to try and get a half decent return.

EDIT and I only hope we've been in his ear the whole time confirming and reinforcing our interest and he's willing to make it known to other clubs he's not playing for anyone besides us so don't even bother and we get him cheap. What would make it doubly nice is that it would be the third time GC naively picked up people who were keen to be in/around Adelaide /SA (Rankine and Luko the other two) and theyve already been burnt once for doing it. That's what you get for being stupid (see also NM re JHF). A second would be maybe enough to teach them not to do it.

Fair assessment from GC’s point of view. I’m just very worried about giving up a second rounder for him. Let’s hope he proves people like me wrong.

The top 10 isn't deep with mids so probably lol. Knowing our luck the club that has pick 8 will choose sanders.

My understanding was at the time Brisbane absolutely wanted to keep him but couldn't guarantee him game time so didn't stand in his way to come home.
