What makes you think anyone will be interested in taking Crouch as a FA? He didn't have any suitors the last 2 times he tried it.
1) I thought he had a level of interest from Sydney and/or Geelong last time?
2) he’s been in a lot better form since 3/4 of the way through 2023, should have at least a couple more suitors

Either way, we need to get Draper fully in the midfield rotation by 2026, so even if Crouch keeps his current form up I’d only offer him a one-year deal for 2026, in order to hint that the back end of his career may lie elsewhere

Deginitely the Cats.

Way, way, way too early crack at the 2025 off-season:

Out: Walker (ret), Smith (ret), Strachan (del), ROB (FA), Crouch (FA), Murphy (del, re-rookied); Schoenberg (del), Burgess (del)

End of 2nd rd compensation for both Crouch and ROB. Leaves us with a first, two end-of-second round picks and three thirds. I also assume we draft someone in the mid-season draft

NWM, Max Heath, 2026 St K 2nd for 2025 and 2026 Adel 1sts (assuming we finish around 7th to 9th next year)
Will Verrall for 2025 Adel 3rd
Jacob Bauer for 2025 end of 2nd
2026 3rd for 2025 GWS/Melb 3rd

Draft a ruck and a small forward with the remaining 2nd and 3rd round pick we have

In: NWM (trade), Heath (trade), Verrall (trade), Bauer (trade), small forward (draft), ruck (draft); Murphy (re-listed), MSD player (draft)
end of 2nd for an out of contract Jacob Bauer seems like massive overs to me?

Is Bauer really the type of small forward we need...he's not really a small forward, more a marking 3rd tall isn't he?

Think with Burgess and Walker going out, we might need some tall forward depth - we’ll have only Fog, RT, Turray and Welsh on the list. Bauer should get quite a few games at the Tigers next year, so should lift his value a bit if he’s any good (I like what I’ve seen)

Small forward comes through the draft - I know this year’s draft was deep, but if Alger went at 58 this year, surely someone decent will pop up at the end of the second round next year

Matt has just come off the second best season of his career points wise and building.
If his groins are good he could be back to his absolute best and feeding our runners.

The problem he's got now is competition.

I reckon we've got as deeper midfield group as we've had in a while.

I think Tex gets re-contracted in 2026. Lack of experienced back up & is closing in on 300 games. I am hoping we use SANFL concessions on maybe Rosenzweig from Centrals and put development into him.

The lightning quick and agile Harley Hicks might be one to keep an eye on as small forward even though he's 178cm, to now he's had stints back, forward and even in the midfield coming through the junior pathways but I think he'll settle forward this year in his top age year.

Im not a fan but if he has a halfway decent season I can see it - as you say 300 looms

I disagree on experienced backup

I'd be highly sceptical of Tex getting past 2025

any Rebels worth a look at next year Bicks? They had a great year in 2024.

Would be a big surprise. You don't get to 300 games as a key forward having also missed time with a knee recon.
It feels like he's right at the end now. Anything he is able to get out of his body is a bonus.

183cm Sam Nicklaus - inside/outside mid/defender with good speed and agility and good skills, off to Xavier College next year so another that may suit up for the Oakleigh Chargers next year.

178cm Harley Hicks - Lightning quick and agile X factor utility, think he settles forward next season.

178cm Archie Taylor - Lightning quick athletic running defender 2.796 20m, running vertical jump 96cm.

189cm Charlie McKinnon -Lead up forward with good speed and great hands overhead

185cm Sinclair Burmeister - outside mid/wingman, absolute endurance running machine with an excellent kick. interesting to see if he has a growth spurt like his brother Floyd.

182cm Lincoln Koliba - inside/outside mid with good speed, very talented cricketer in Vic U19 team so like Sam Lalor will have to choose.

188cm Cooper Glenwright-McGuane - mediun running defender, cousin of Mick McGuane

195cm Chad Finck - Forward/ruck, already played senior footy for Portland in the strong Hanpden Football League.

200cm Jack Murray - Ruck, likely to be one of the VC rucks aspirants for the Nationals, can really clunk an overhead mark and hit the scoreboard.

yes Sydney wanted him before we offered a 2 year contract extension. With a settled life in ADL he preferred to stay

What do you see as the mid rotation in 2026?
