He’s a mid defender isn’t he? Wouldn’t think we need another of those
Agree, we need a key position player not another mid size.

Hopefully Berg is doing some defensive drills.

Today just made the chase for Harry Himmelberg a must ....too late to Draft the KPD we need ...have to go a buy a good one

He's just what we need !

Or we put Madgen on the AFL list.

Surely if we were to put a KPD on as a like for like we would review all available not just the guy we picked up for our SANFL team. I doubt he is the best available key defender outside of the AFL. It will be interesting to see if we wait to mid season draft or jump in beforehand

Really makes it a head scratcher that we have not drafted any KPP's in the last two drafts, especially with Talia and Frampton also having recently left.

You sweet naive child

' oh that was lucky we have Madgen '

We’d have to give assurances we would pick them up, doubt any player will move from their club for a chance at this late stage.
Plenty have Sam Skinner and Haydem McLean both left South Adelaide during the pre-season supplementary period, both had done their pre-season at the Panthers and I'm sure there's others...

We do not need a 29yo undersized key defender.

There are available KPDs that are younger and taller and much better investments. Ethan Phillips for one.
From what I've seen of Ethan Phillips he's more an intercepting defender than your body on body type KPD.

He was under the eyes of the recruiters all year but no interest even in the rookie draft so they must have some doubts about some aspects of his game re AFL. Has he been training with any of the AFL clubs over summer with a view to getting taken in the supplementary period?

Madgen isn't really a KPD, he's more of a Jake Kelly

We didnt need an injured 26 year old midfielder either

Its not what I want its what the club will do thats easy

I dont know why we didnt forecast this and draft somebody this year or trade - you know - when we had 2 late picks we used on guess what - midfielders

They both got picked up? My point was I doubt many would give up their club without assurances they would be picked up

Sam Skinner by Port, Hayden McLean by the Swans. McLean has played 31 games for the Swans since they snaffled him from the Panthers in the supplementary period. Skinner played 2 league games for Port this year.

Would much prefer taking a gamble on someone like Shaun Bennier for example
Or Çentrals Brodie Tuck or Oakleigh Chargers Jed Rule.

Someone more ready made we could snaffle Jackson Callow from the Redlegs and play him down back where IMO he played some great TSL League footy for North Launceston as an 18 year old.

He is renowned for intercepting (which I don't mind either), but can defend one on one apparently (haven't seen him live). He should have the height and size to go with the big forwards as a back up to Butts and Murray.

If we are holding out for an improvement on Butts/ Murray in the draft next year, there would be nothing wrong with taking a swing at a mobile ball user for the half back in the SSP.

I wonder what the status is with Oscar McDonald's back issue...

Looked great in the 1st round against Richmond before injured in round 2 against the Dogs.

Pretty sure Madgen played against us the first time we played against the pies last season. Did alright on a Tex-less forward line. Reckon Fog and Berg were the tall forwards that day.
