Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

Yeah that sounds ominous about Henry

I wonder if we are acknowledging that our offer $$ will be much lower than others? And have accepted that he will walk?
I can't imagine Liam Henry, of all players, would be getting a big contract from another team that we can't match. Is our salary cap situation really that dodgy right now?

My assumption would be that we can match but wouldn't (aka the acres treatment)

Either that or Henry wants out of the fishbowl (I posted about that on another page)

The final thing could be that the club actually is in a lot more trouble than we think, I'm bloody hoping it ain't this one but the amount of players leaving is stacking up...

He’s also expanding his tie business into street wear. Bigger market in Melbourne…

Was listening to Scott Watters, and he backed Longmuir, but said that more pressure should be put on Peter Bell.
He's the footy boss, and he got us here!
Also said that Clement needs to take a bigger position and be strong

I'm not that concerned about Henry leaving. More concerned with Johnson and Chapman being on the books of Colin Young. The parasite also manages Taylor and Naughton, so he has us by the balls if we want either of those guys.

If Darcy and/or Cox leave though, I reckon that will just about be it for me. I'd give up all hope that we will ever be able to assemble/keep a good team together.

If Darcy or Cox leave I say we all just give up following AFL and all become proper draft enthusiasts. As supporters, we can pride ourselves on picking the bones out of the draft and we'll get a lot of shots at it too because whoever we pick would leave within 7 years and we can get another go at it. We'd become an incredible self-sustaining draft factory.

Slightly more seriously, if one leaves, may as well push the other one out and get a massive haul to start another rebuild built around Jye while our veterans in Serong and Brayshaw guide the young'uns before they leave at the grand old age of 27 and we can start the process again

He may already be cupping our balls. It would not surprise me if Henry and Naughton are part of the same trade.

If Henry leaving helps Naughton arrive... then fine by me.

Clement?

The reason doesn't matter to me (unless Henry is just a campaigner), if we don't want to lose him but are going to, someone up the chain responsible can go with him.

Totally unsustainable to lose at least 1+ B22 players per season. Especially when you have to do it at a significant loss like Henry is going to be.

Henry is not leaving.

What is happening is straight out of the Colin Young playbook. He has upped the money stakes and is spreading threats of better deals elsewhere. He gets the response he wants, which is fear of losing the player, and everyone is talking about the player.

Henry has a close bond with his teammates, in particular, Michael Walters. He has been a significant figure in his career development as has Justin Longmuir. Henry is close to his family and does not want to leave the Dockers.

We will make a more attractive offer than the previous one, and he will sign.

Well the Colin Young playbook has seen plenty of players leave in recent times

He's also orchestrated moves for Mitch McGovern, Bobby Hill, Frampton, Darcy Cameron, Lycett.

The only players I can see that he might have used the media to jack up their price and get them to stay are Jeremy McGovern and Darling. Even with them I can't remember how it went down with their last contracts.
