If I'm Kemp, I'm asking for a trade.

Why play a midfielder in defence when this guy has been killing it there in the twos?

Selection integrity…

On one hand saying it needs to be like for like, then when presented they go way against that policy

Same for Dow

It’s ridiculous…sure fire way for culture to be chipped away at and destroy the fabric of the group

Remember the days of the 3 amigos??? Add a little 1AW, a dash of Armfield and a pinch of Judd.... ahhh speed and an entertaining game style, even when we didn't win we were fun to watch. Fell one kick short of a preliminary to the weagles in Perth... Running power, clean hands in close and precision kicking are KING! Contested marks over rated and can't be relied on week in week out to win games when you have great intercepting defenders these days, the chaos F50 groundball works much better than the bail out kick it high in hope kick to the talls.
I remember that team getting beaten up regularly in the contest by the better teams such as the Hawks and Swans, with the 3 amigos barely touching it. Good list management gets a good balance of everything - speed, grunt, marking, elite kicking, different personality types etc. I think we're still playing catch up with the better clubs in this area, we have an elite core to build around though.

After a very frustrating start to the year... We definitely need to target specialist mid sized forwards as there know balance there.... we play to many small blokes in the front half where we don't even half the contest we get outmarked when it's not Harry or Charlie...Martin missing so much footy is so disappointing as he was targeted for that role & no even sure Honey has the footy IQ to play that role ... why not try him in defence or on the wing in the 2s to see how that goes.

Even in the last Quarter against the saints nothing was happening ... why Voss didn't try Putting McGovern or even Weitering for a forward spark is beyond me as we could all see the Ross Lyon had put the squeeze on in last qtr to run time of the clock.

Not much imagination from the coaching staff..

Honestly how many players have actually improved this year so far ?

Maybe Cerra & Newman when he not making horrible turnovers

So thus far, we have an untested allegation of threatening to send a naughty picture (presumably, given the charge, he didn't actually send the image) and a few allegations of verbal abuse....

The first is neither here nor there....the other allegations? We'll see.

Happy to wait and see how it plays out....
Why angry, those are the facts at this point in time.

If hindsight was foresight-- list management is not a perfect science but a few little things show bad coaches and system mean you don't really get to the know what your players are really capable of and end up very costly ..
We take Williams to play midfield when he was a half back I don't dismiss this as I would of taken Laird as a half back to play mid when we were letting go of Gibbs ( another swing was not taking Lyons as steak knives ) we had doc on the list we have him to play half back we had stocker on the list
We bought in hewitt to be that big bodied inside mid we had Kennedy and setterfield on list --
Between Williams and hewitt compared to what the other 2 we let go cost is approx 800k ..
This is by no means saying we should of kept those two and all the trades are bad blah blah -
Just examples of how foresight when evaluating your list in a bad environment is fraught with problems.
Same as dealing future picks..

Gamble responsibly

I’ve said before people claiming this side is better than the 2011 era side are dead wrong, this side would be smashed for pace by them.

Got to say I miss Armfield, I would kill for a player fast enough to run down everyone just to put on a block to help the team. Has to be someone out there who’s lightening quick, hard and can kick a footy.
New Carlton recruitment strategy, launch a competition called “speed kills” send in a vid of your speed & skills & get a heap of grad/junior kids to screen it & watch the vids, weed it down to 50-75 players and bring them to Ikon Park for the day to show what they have- couldn’t hurt & would be great publicity.
I’m sure Lamanna & Barkley Smokehouse can put on a hell of a spread & make it a family event & activity day for the club

Fullback or CHB is his spot IMO. He's not a number 1 ruck, nor a forward.

I don’t think he is anywhere near mobile enough to play as a key defender. He’d get slaughtered on the lead.

We are using him correctly he just isn’t coming on as quickly as we’d like which is fine as all players develop differently.

IMO we stick to the plan to give him a 2 year deal to get through to FA at which time we’ll know if he’s worth a big deal.

He’s “worth” c $800k p.a. so the scribes tell us, you can only image what he’d be worth if he could win a tap..

NO.

He is playing well enough as an individual and has plenty to offer. A mentor in the twos at very worst. If we had a different midfield balance he could still be a staple.

Any special talent available mid season will not be there when we get, at best, a mid range pick. At best we get a role player. If our small forwards remain thin on the ground, it would likely be a Cahill or Ronke. For mine, the only other consideration would be a mature ruck like Naismith if TDK is at a contract impasse.

Sorry it’s sad to say it but Ed’s done. The coaches both thought Sinclair was BOG as I did. He cooked Ed in the first half so badly there was a contest just before half time he couldn’t get to because he was so spent. He has no other role than as a run with player and if we need a player like that in the future then it’s Cottrell.

Ed can still play a role as a mentor in the 2s if he retires mid season. IMO we should be looking to free up at least 2 spots for the MSD to grab one of Ronke and Cahill and one of Ethan Phillips or McMahon. We should also make a call on one of Cunners, Martin and Marchy to free up the other spot.

No point in Ed retiring mid season, we wouldn’t be able to replace his list spot.

Just means he needs to sign off on it with a form lodgement. More formalities.
“Included in that was the explanation of registering of inactive players, with clubs to have to show evidence that a player has retired, including a form 40 lodged online and a signed deed of released lodged with the AFL by Tuesday, May 30

John Ralph just on Fox Footy saying if Ben McKay moved to us, what would we have to give up. 3 picks including a 1st rounder suggested. I don't think he's that good?

54 games since his debut in 2017 & always injured - no thanks

As for Ralphy 🙄

Why do we have so many slow inside midfielders? We have such a one paced midfield. Look at all these players who play the same way slow inside bull way and have no dare about them:

Cripps
Hewett
Kennedy
E.Curnow
Kemp
We got Hewett when we probably thought Kennedy wouldn’t make it, Curnow is about done and I don’t think Kemp belongs on that list.
