Have you heard something?
Really, why & where to?
I don't have insider information to confirm but have seen it on a few platforms mentioned by people generally more reliable than most. Body language is completely shot on field atm and he's got a history of requesting trades when the club he's at is under turmoil so wouldn't be surprised.

If we can extract a first round pick for TDK, we should sign the paperwork as quickly as possible and move on. The reported long term, big money offers for him are laughable. We need to hit the draft this year and this could be a simple way of acquiring draft capital that won’t impact our short term prospects.

Even if we're going down a less 'blow up the joint' approach we'd still get some good picks this year from trading the assets we can probably afford to cut loose.

Should be enough to get us some good picks this year. If another big-name requests to go, unless its Walsh Charlie or Weiters I'd let them walk.

Surely we keep Saad his pace and disposal are what we lack … the others pfffft no problem

Austin didn't botch anywhere near as many good draft picks and list spots as SOS.

Most of the blame for the mediocre and uneven shape of our list has to be laid at the feet of Steve Silvagni.

Also Cowan looks like a quality and tough HBF type. Got no issues with us picking him at all.
Yes SOS was an issue.
But
Austin has to share some of this.

In his 3 years, he has resigned the "stars". Mckay out to 2030 for example.

And traded multiple picks for Saad, Acres is not a good user. Williams a FA but horrible deal for a 1 position player, who was inconsistent and injury riddled at GWS.

Cerra is a tick.
Hewett good last year, but fallen off a cliff this year, so who knows now.

Austins drafting looks ok, but Motlop and Durdin simply dont kick goals. Thats the 1 kpi we need them to deliver on.

Cowan, Hollands, Binns, Lemmey, only time will tell how they develop and if they are ticks

Resigning Obrien, Marchbank and Cunningham... a gamble.... not paying off.

Its right to scrutinize him, as much as we did SOS. And I am no SOS apologist.

None of those listed gets us a good pick. Tdk maybe a pick 14-25?

But let's not get rid of our 2024 1st. Currently sitting 15th and the Hawks are massively improving and the Kangaroos have a heap of quality on their list and could make a reasonably quick rise.

If you want 3 or 4 top 25 draft picks, a very high quality player will need to be trades. Saad, Kennedy, Fisher and McGovern aren't getting us a top 30 pick

Pretty sure the body language of most of the team is questionable right now, l would not be reading much into that.

Saad and TDK our best chances of a good pick. Kennedy after that.

2024 draft is beyond a joke in terms of F/S and Academy players. Every chance over 20 of the top 30 at this stage will be compromised picks so I'd be more than happy to trade our pick to get into this year if it could get us another top 10 pick. This year has all the types we need in the first round, next years much more ur mainstay midfielders and half backs etc.

Losing Saad would be very counter productive as he's one of the only ones on the list that provides the line breaking speed that we have very little of.

He is but if we're to develop the next half backs in our ranks he's actually detrimental to that. Better to trust the kids to distribute than have them feed he and Docherty the ball all game and play secondary roles.

That all depends on whether we're going a deep cull or not though, if we're planning on just making a few moves and trusting the list to bounce back next year then you'd obviously keep Saad if given the choice..

We need to have a serious consideration about having another list rebuild. Not to the extent of the other, shorter and not as hard.

The goals would be to strip back the players who aren't up to it and the slow players as well as the heavy contracts.

We've built a team for where footy was at the start of our rebuild. It was slower, more congested and more inside. Now it's really open and far more outside and it's all about pace and having some solid rotations in the team.

Teams who are good now were likely aware of what the AFL wanted to do and what the rule changes would do to the game so they went with pace and foot skills.

First thing. Cripps, Kennedy and Hewett. We only need one. Honestly we may not need any. Things have moved past the big slow immobile midfielder as quick as the play moves past them.

DeKoning if he wants a big contract he has to go. Ruckmen do not need big contracts (see Grundy) regardless of how good they are. He's just a ruckman.

Fisher, there is no room in the game for players who don't tackle.

Marchbank and McGovern with Kemp coming on we trade both, potentially keeping one. Plowman trade if no takers, depth.

Cuningham and Dow into the midfield ASAP.

Start developing a second position into our players.

Hit the list hard with trades and hit the draft hard. Find some young quick guys who have been in the system a while and get them in.
I think you have some great ideas.

I'll like to see Dow, Fisher, Cuningham and Martin rotate through the midfield and see if they are up to it.

Kennedy and Cripps should rotate between inside mid and 3rd tall forward.
