You do you mate, but no one is picking Hopper as a keeper. He's there too make $150k+ then be hopefully a straight swap to a fallen premo.
I'm worried about Hopper being a trap, had high CPs, clearances and CBAs and only scored 90ish without Prestia. Have gone with Wanganeen-Milera instead. Accepting a fix-up trade may be required.

Are we sure no one is picking him to be a keeper?

If he goes at 95-100 why can’t we keep him as M8. Has shown he can score big.

We can’t have all top scoring players in every line, if he ends up weakest link I could live with that.
Some might be I guess.

Just imo, but if Hopper is your M8 after the byes averaging 95 you will be losing 10 points a week at least.

With 36 trades it should be possible to do better than that.

If he goes 105+ then sure, keep him.

If you’re picking those 10 points up on another line though it’s irrelevant really.

Time will tell.

With 20 trades agreed
With 30 trades we got away with Taranto m8 at 102
But 36 i’d want someone better then him at m8
Fine to be the last upgrade though as you say having 95 on field is better then fielding a rookie

Seeing a lack of Josh Kelly in some teams interesting. 6% owned, No TT or Hopper, new coach so no stuffing around, has been between 114-118 over the course of 3 years, ceiling like no other and only 580k. Injury risk but for the price reward outweighs risk.
:padlock: in my side ....GWS great opening fixture ....Jelly playing inside mid, 70% CBA's

We want to keep ownership low

He's getting old, had a couple of bad years, only scores well when GWS are premiership contenders. Overstating his potential

did i do it right?
LOL .....that counts Laird out at 29 yo

I have Jelly and think he's going to be a really nice POD at 6% ownership. Opening 5 rounds are juicy and role should be v good with the Giants departures as you said. I've got him as an extra premo mid at the expensive of some midpricey guys so hopefully he doesn't shit the bed, need him to do well.

Have had Hopper in the last few weeks but found the extra $$$ to turn him into Whitfield. Giants run early is very juicy, plus more chance of him being a DEF keeper than Hopper a MID keeper.
And come the bye rounds, you'll be trying to find the cash to turn Whitfield into a rookie!

I’m still picking him but I kind of agree. It seems like they want him in the Cotchin role from the last few years where you basically only get contested possessions with no outside game at all

Well ....that's keeping our secret pick on the lowdown ....maybe you could have surrounded his name in lights

Hang on .....I'll do it for you, so no-one misses out on the secret

Are you all trading Jelly out after round 5, or just waiting until the injury? :moustache:
He's played more (or as many) games over the last two years than popular/comparable picks such as:
  • Laird
  • Brayshaw
  • Neale
  • Cripps
  • Parish
  • Merrett
  • Coniglio
  • Stewart
  • Taranto
  • Hopper
  • Steele
  • Docherty
  • Dunkley and plenty more.

Which of course means he'll snap in half during the first quarter of Round 1, but what's SC without a little bit of spice (and once again breaking my number 1 SC rule of no GWS tissue paper campaigners).

Stay tuned for my melts (if I don't chicken out) xx

If someone reads my post and puts Jelly in their team for the first time all preseason as a result, then they are playing the wrong game.

Jelly is not someone you should pick on a whim.

What's the knock on Cripps? A niggle? Doubts about his ability to back up after last year's effort? Ghosts of 2020/21? More value elsewhere around his pricepoint?

I have him in my side at present but have hardly seen him mentioned let alone in someone's team.

The Brownlow curse... the season after is often a flop... check it out, I dare you!

Thanks, I was tossing up whether or not I should select Kelly and this convinced me. Anyone see any obvious problems with this midfield? I'm contemplating swapping Macrae out for Petracca but think it'd be wise to start with Macrae and reassess later.

Plenty of risk, but I like the variation from the norm. Keep Macrae - you're going to need a safe captaincy option with that mix.
