I like Caddy but he's just about the last thing we need from a list management point of view.

I don't think we'd be even close to considering him as an option with our first 2 selections.
Watson one of those 2?

daniel curtin seams to be the number 1 defender this draft. is now 196cm. do we reckon wed snag him with our first pick or would he be gone by then

A few things:
  • If West Coast or Fremantle finish below us, they'll take him
  • If the above doesn't happen, I think we'll be nervous selecting a WA kid due to go home factor
  • Off the top of my head, Clarkson's Hawthorn never went the route of drafting key position defenders with high picks until DGB in 2020. Funnily enough, a WA key position defender.

What is your early top 5 specifically for north?

If you view caddy as a medium tall forward, I’d assume you aren’t into Moir or Dursma?

Liked Ashton Moirs interview on the AFL site. Speaks alright and sounds like a normal enough kind of kid.

Few questions marks about his best position but he will go very high in the draft I reckon. Blokes who can kick 55m on either leg do not grow on trees.

We shouldn't be put off by go home factor if the player says they are willing to move.

DRAFTEE'S FREAKISH SKILLSET

TOP draft hopeful Ashton Moir's kicking on both feet has wowed recruiters and the goalkicker says he doesn't have a preferred kicking foot.

Moir joined this week's episode of Gettable from Adelaide, where the Glenelg talent is viewed as a potential top-10 pick.

The 188cm prospect booted 30 goals from 10 games last season at under-18 level and this year kicked off his campaign with four goals. He explained his capacity to kick on both feet as being something he decides with each kick he has.

"I genuinely don't have a preferred foot, just wherever the opponent is, wherever I am on the field, will [decide] which foot I use," Moir said.

"It definitely helps me. I reckon it helps my teammates as well. They know I don’t have a problem going either way so it helps their leading patterns and gets me out of trouble too."

Moir spent time at Adelaide training over summer and said the experience had opened his eyes to the demands of an AFL career.

"The week at the Crows was unreal. They were really welcoming – the leaders like 'Tex' (Taylor Walker), Rory Sloane, Jordan Dawson, everyone. They didn't take it easy, they went full pelt which made me a better player as well," he said.

MURRAY PROSPECT ROCKETING UP RANKS

CONNOR O'Sullivan's draft stocks are rising, with the Murray Bushrangers talent having an eye-catching start to the Coates Talent League.

The 198cm prospect's capacity to play at both ends of the ground and through the midfield has seen him rise, with O'Sullivan this weekend set to play for the AFL Academy against Port Adelaide's SANFL team.

Bushrangers talent boss Mick Wilson said the flexibility O'Sullivan brings to the table has been his key asset in the first block of the under-18 campaign.

"Versatile is the best word to describe him. In our first game he played as a key forward who rotated through the midfield. In the second game he was similar, and last game he played key back for the full game and was really strong," Wilson said.

"He was super impressive. His athletic profile is outstanding for a player his size."

O'Sullivan completed the 20-metre sprint in three seconds at the testing day earlier this year and has the potential to play more in the midfield.

Depends where the picks fall but I’d say he’d suit the list build for sure. West coast and Freo would both be keen on any WA talls.

I’ve heard from a few sources that he wants to play both back and forward this year as part of his development. Will be interesting if he kicks a few bags and shows a heap as a forward.

A couple of other talls that I really like are Connor O’Sullivan from the Murray Bushrangers and Riley Weatherill from the Eastern Ranges. O’Sullivan is a 198cm key position player who can play all over the ground. Has really good movement for a kid his size. Weatherill is a 195cm consistent key forward. Has started off the year kicking 3,2 & 2 goals. I reckon he has a big bag coming in the next few weeks. Bit of a mark and goal type forward the same way Larkey is but he has good footy IQ.

What do the draft gurus here think?

Potential Thomas replacement? If he's not a campaigner like JHF, I hope we don't shy away from interstate talent and back out culture in.

At this stage he is more one dimensional than TT. Hasn’t shown a stack of potential as a midfielder, but he is gifted with incredible vision so I’m sure he could transition into an outside mid/wing.

At this stage Moir does his best work inside forward 50 as a lead up/mark forward. Although, he has plenty of moves at ground level as well. After recruiting Brayden George last year I’m not sure it would be the best idea from a list management perspective to go with another mid sized forward.

I think the 3 priorities need to be:

1. KP players either forward or back
2. Crumbing/pressure small forward
3. Genuine hard running wingman

Two big boys 195cm+ and a crumber that can gut run up and back would be amazing.

Anyone ITK have any names to look out for? Assuming we have two top ten picks (port pick may be 10-15) and pick 50ish.

Early days, but this would be my top 20 at this stage:

6. Archer Reid
7. Nick Watson
8. Nate Caddy
9. Koltyn Tholstrup
10. Colby McKercher
11. Jack Delean
12. Nathan Philactides
13. Mitchell Edwards
14. Ryley Sanders
15. Will Lorenz
16. Riley Hardeman
17. Ben Ridgeway
18. Lual Luamon
19. Sam Frangalas
20. Logan Morris

Next Best (in no particular order):

Jack Callinan, Arie Schoenmaker, Tom Beaumont, Will Patton, Riley Weatherill, Koen Sanchez, Clay Hall, Alex Holt, Luca Slade, Kane MacCauliffe, George Stevens, Archie Roberts, Cam Nyko, Coen Livingstone, Connor O'Sullivan and Will McCabe.

KP’s: Daniel Curtain, Archer Reid, Connor O’Sullivan and Riley Weatherill. Jed Walter as well (but he is a GC academy player).

Classy/Fast small forwards: Nick Watson & Jack Dealan.

X-Factor types: Ashton Moir and Zane Duursma

Skilful Mids/Half Back: Colby McKercher & Nathan Philactides.

Thanks for that!

Archer Reid and Connor O'Sullivan would just fit perfectly into this side in 2-3 years time. Would upset the Nick Watson fanatics but we need a depth of bigs.
