Watching West Coast tonight there’s no way they don’t take Reid. Their midfield is terrible.

Watching tonight shows how bad the Dogs are. Took the over 3/4’s to shake off Geelong’s VFL side and how the **** did they lose to WC on their home deck.

Curtin is their saviour

(Not really, but just ensuing they play ball)

Perfect . But will they do that? Alternatively they could look at what Melbourne are offering. Eg freo first pick plus their first (likely 18 or so) plus their first next year. Would mean that eagles likely miss Curtin though. Any other western Australians highly rated or is it just Curtin at the pointy end?
I can’t see them gambling on Melbourne next year unless they see something at the Freo pick they really like.

I think they have locked themselves into Reid now. They are desperate for midfield talent, it’s Kelly or bust at the moment.

I went to the CTL double header today and a number of people I spoke to the consensus was we need a KPD before we go for a small fwd. I tend to agree. The Wiz is good but getting Reid and O’Sullivan or maybe even KPF in Caddy are better for us imo.
Also interesting comments from Clarkos presser regarding the #1 pick.
We're not overlooking The Whizza....BF consensus has him at North...that's all that counts

They will take Reid and we should take Curtin. Probably win win for both clubs on a needs basis.

I’m more interested in what we do with 3 if we get it as McKay compo.
Option 1: Add to our dangerous forward line with a FP who kicks bags for fun.

Option 2: Add to our running mids with McKercher.

Option 3: Trade it back for 2 firsts to take two of: O’Sullivan, Murphy, Watson, Croft, Caddy.

Each presents significant bonuses to our future needs.

This morning Brady had the easiest job in the world come November. Now, his world just became a whole lot more ****ed
He knows who the Eagles want... there are no secrets with the draft top 10-15 anymore. One or two variables might pop up between now and then, but 100% the clubs talk to each other.

Option 3 is more high risk high reward, but if we can somehow get a free hit with Sanders and Watson is still on the board at the pick we get in return, then we would be laughing. Croft surely goes to the Dogs, but if we got two out the remaining 4 names you gave, we have had an excellent draft.

Just spent the last three hours watching over McKercher. This bloke is a jet and surely we take him with one of our first picks (pending McKay).

He’s damaging by foot, even though he is heavy on his left… but due to his evasiveness, acceleration and IQ, he’s able to escape traffic to avoid using his right. His run and carry is elite and you want the ball in his hands forward of centre. He does enjoy a fend off every now and again which works to his advantage.

What outside runners do we have on our list that can accumulate and hit the scoreboard? Whilst also having pretty elite foot skills..

I’d say none..

Sold.

Thing is, as a midfielder i probably wouldn't have him ahead of McKercher and Sanders. These two have been huge over the last two months. Not sure what his tank is like either. I'd even throw Duursma in the mix as well.

I think Reid could be fools gold.

Others around him seem to be developing at a much faster rate recently.

So let me get this right.

WC are going to trade pick 1 for pick 2 and at best all we will get is the Port compo chucked in which is currently 16 but will most likely be around 22-23 after GC three academy boys, hawks and Dogs father and sons, North band 1 compo and North bidding on Sanders as well.

Even then some of you expect us to give you our second back as well?

All because you think just because there is a player from W.A we must be desperate for him even though we’ve never had a retention issue and just so happen to need midfielders way more then Key backs???

Curtin is a great pick for you guys, definitely should take him.

One of your mob suggested we should give up pick 2 and 3 for 1. And you want to have a go at some of us? Seriously?

They are delusional, you’d never do that.

Tbh I think and hope you get band 1 now and Curtin and Watson should be your picks.

Oodles of talent and fill genuine needs.

You might even be able to trade 3, slide down the order a few picks, take the extra draft capital and still take Watson.

Plenty of options for pick 2 and 3

You should take Reid.

When people talk about this it's based on a scenario where WC rate Reid and Curtin similarly, with all factors considered, so they are getting an extra asset.

If they rate Reid way ahead of Curtin then it obviously isn't going to happen.

Personally I think Curtin will be a phenomenal player but he doesn’t fill a need for us. He’s not going to be a full time mid imo. How WC see it might be another matter.

I think we need to take Reid. If he is JHF MkII then we trade him back to VIC next year with many clubs falling over themselves to get him and at least the draft is more midfielder heavy, especially the top end.

Only way I see us trading pick 1 this year him is we walk away with any 2 of Curtin, Duursma, Watson and McKercher and I don’t see how that happens without North being prepared to trade pick 2 or 3 to slide down the order.

North don’t need Reid, you’d be bonkers to trade two low first for pick 1. Your midfield looks pretty good to me already.

Likewise if WC trade pick 1 for pick 2 and a pick in the 20’s we’d be an even bigger laughing stock than we’ve already been this year.

Could the AFL offer both the Eagles and us PP after both our first picks so the Eagles end up with Pick#1 Reid and Pick#2 Curtin with us ending up with Picks# 3 and #4? On saying that , do the Eagles qualify for a PP...?
Don't stress friend. Nisbett announced a couple of months ago WCE wouldn't be seeking assistance(nor should they).

It's been suggested a few times and it gets dumber every time someone brings it up.

Whoever lands Reid should expect him to be good but I seriously doubt he's worth 2+3 in this draft.
