Will be reviewed? What the * does that mean?
who knows. I guess if we climb the ladder we may only get one pick or none...🙀
nevertheless it seems a bit loose.
Having 2 extra rookie spots is great imo. So many good players slip through to the rookie draft.

On the club website now. And what does this mean "The AFL reserves the right to review the 2024 draft selections at the end of next season, however the club will be able to use the picks in trades this year"

Not to be silly, but what is the difference between an end of first rounder and a start of second? We have to pay the kid more and we pick on the first night instead of the second?
To another team…? May have some use in picking players that have slipped
Or to teams that need the points for academy players next year

Caddys the same mould as George, no? Dunno if you want two of that role at such aprice?

Not really.

Caddy is mobile, can play through the midfield etc, but he plays a bit like a mobile KPP with an upright style, like Jack Darling (minus the 30kgs) as an example.

George is very much in the Isaac Heeney- the most athletic and agile player on the field type...

Pick 19 + Steak knives for Sean Darcy.

So if we hold onto the 2024 picks and improve we could lose them. Is this what the 2024 review means? If so why would we keep them? Wouldn’t it make sense to trade them for more picks this year or get players in now? Seems like a Clayton’s rule.

That’s the point. I reckon it’s trying to get us to assist gc and wc as well as ourselves.
It’s like a weird trap

It give us a lot or room to get some deals done.

Trade up target and target GC pick is the obvious one
GWS still like the idea of taking on Haynes salary with a trade down for GWS to the Port pick and maybe something extra.
Swap the Melbourne and Freo pick with our 2 or 3 and something extra from the assistance package
Would Gelong trade down to the Port pick if we could add some of the assitance package.
Do we have a real crack at Harley Reid.

Who need points next year, is it only Ashcroft? Can we get something this year for those two 2024 picks we've been given.

Target players with those assistance package picks.

Last question, how do they decide whick pick come first in the 2024 picks if lets say we trade one to WC and one to GC?

Would love to see us use the extra capital to own the top 10 by getting both Geelong and GC's picks, then live trading those picks to desperate buyers for extra capital in future picks. Could really set us up to go absolutely apeshit in next year's draft or trade for desired players.

A further point is, Twoomey mentioned whatever the GC trade for, they were going to trade out before or on draft night and maximise further and shift points.

I.e if they trade 4 to the Dogs for 10, 17, and a F1.

10 & 17 will be on the table.

We could potentially trade them 19, F1 (#19) and a F2 for 10 & 17 as an example.

Then have 2,3,10,14,17

McKercher, Curtin, Caddy, Murphy, Edwards

we would decide, surely? We trade F19 for x, trade F20 for y

Those names would be an A+++ in correcting our list holes.

Only problem is the Dees might offer 13, 24 and 32 or F2 for 10 and 17 as well.
If we want 10 we might have to offer up 14 and 19/F1(19) to beat that type of deal.
