Maybe. But if I were them, I'd get the best midfielder I could this year when there are lots to choose from, rather than a ticket in a raffle.

If someone suggested we should trade pick 2 for Richmond's F1 because it's likely that there will be better talls at the top of next year's draft, I don't think it would get much support.
Well its odds on Richmond will get pick 1 again and probably fair odds they decide to dodge the SA boy if they get fair compensation.

One things for sure, unless Crows got ballsy to offer something like for our f1 they wont get either Draper or Sharp.

Cal Twomey has him ranked at 12 he hasn’t done the Phantom Draft yet.

Having said that if we gave up pick 2 for 6 and 20 I’d convert to the Sack Brady Cult.

I can’t get my head around the number of posters who seem infatuated with Richmond getting our pick 2. Even draft or not it’s the second pick anyone who wants it can pay overs for it end of story.

I certainly appreciate your point although my post is intended to be about what Gold Coast might hope to do rather than what we would accept. But as chubbspeterson rightly points out, there are a lot of moving parts so trying to figure out what a trade might look like this far out is hardly worth the exercise.

Apologies, I misread that.

You’re right though until the trade period is over it is hardly worth the exercise. I’d be very surprised if we’re not still holding on to pick 2 on draft night. I think it will all come down to who Richmond take with pick 1 as to how open we are to trading pick 2.

I wouldn't be so confident of that, and we don't even know if they are keen on either. But if they want Draper, there is every chance we would be happy to drop back to 4 for the right offer. And who knows what happens next year. Sharp could drop down the rankings, or Adelaide down the ladder. Teams may even have two years of future picks to trade with.

In this game Bo Allan was given a chance to play as one of Peel's primary onballers on the big stage of a prelim final. It wasn't a prolific game for Bo, but he acquitted himself well and put together a few exiting passages of play to tease watchers with his immense potential. The defensive side of the game is where Allan is most accomplished and impactful at this stage, and where he's likely to immediately contribute most strongly at AFL level. His athleticism and physicality allow him to close space rapidly and lay powerful tackles, and he's diligent when playing the sweeping role on the defensive side of the contest. The moments when he tucks the ball under his arm and bursts free of congestion before roosting a deep and penetrating left foot ball into the forward 50 are what get's everyone excited for what he might be capable of in the future.

He's raw when it comes to midfield craft, not much subtlety about him, tends to bash forwards in straight lines. Not always as clean with his hands in close as other potential mids. You'd be drafting him with the expectation that he's got a lot of untapped potential there, but he would need to improve a lot.

The other question I think is around his soft form at WAFL level. In a year when other candidates have had prolific output at state league level, he's been playing back flank largely and has been very quiet in a lot of games.

Sounds like this year's Reuben Ginbey, who has not looked prolific enough in his ball-getting between the arcs to be an AFL mid since being drafted.

It’s a decent comp, although I think Allan has a higher ceiling myself. Better kick and more powerful with his movements.
I don’t follow the kids enough to recall, but could Ginbey burst from the stoppage with the wheels that Allan can?

Disposal by foot is really rushed. From the Jack Ziebell school of bomb it out of the centre at every chance.

In saying that, I love how physical he is, would be one of the toughest players in this years crop.

We continue to wait for the VODs from the prelim finals to drop. In the mean time, more QF performances.

----

The emergence of Jack Ough from a solid winger into one of the Talent League's most influential midfielders over the second half of the season has been impressive to say the least. In any other draft he would be pushing his case to be a first round pick, but his size, footy IQ, clean hands at ground level, slick and quick handball in tight and a deft touch on his kicks make him a potential target anywhere outside of the first round.

Called that one from a long way out. Late birth date too so he is one of the younger players in this years crop. Not many 193cm mids move like him.

I haven't watched a lot of these videos, but is he that far behind the top rated mids? If our picks stay as they are, would we be better off with the highest rated Key Forward at our first and this kid with our second, rather than the other way round. He looks a good prospect for sure, especially in the second round (no guarantees he doesn't go earlier of course).

Just on that game alone, he looks every bit as good as Smillie but with the potential to get much stronger and more powerful, given that he is almost a bottom ager.

This was a definite step up for Finn compared to his disappointing outing last week, much more influential and involved with the play, but unfortunately his Chargers went down to the Rebels, ending his season. The Chargers only have themselves to blame for this loss, squandering countless opportunities, both from relatively easy goal scoring opportunities and some awful final balls into F50 with Finn himself responsible for a couple. With the game on the line he took a brilliant mark deep in the forward pocket, but hit the wrong side of the footy on his attempted banana which proved to be the Chargers final chance to retake the lead.
