I believe only once pick one is on the clockCan trades be done earlier than 7pm or does it have to wait until 7pm..
Thats not what I said. What I said was is Kerch doesn’t bring much to our midfield because we have all his shit covered. He’s the most overrated draft prospect ive ever seen. This board has gone nuts over him and I just can’t see it.Nah apparently LDU may be traded if we draft Kerch according to DuckYeah. Madness. As if they couldn't co-exist.
I took him to mean that they are drafting based on talent, but in the process of that some list needs will be addressed.Followed by 'We've got a few list needs. By picking talent we are going to address some of those'
Translation. I'm not telling you nothing.
A showcase of the silky smooth and versatile Daniel Curtin at his best over the course of the 2023 season.
= the iron dictator!!!Dan Curtin = The Iron.
I took the talent reference as largely meaningless: 'we have decided not to draft any talentless hacks this time around'.I took him to mean that they are drafting based on talent, but in the process of that some list needs will be addressed.
Then he said that outside run and forward pressure are list needs.
So don't be shocked if we draft McKercher, Duursma, Wilson (trade up), Collard and talk about addressing needs.
If that's true, then he needs to move on. The day we become deflated or even envious of that plastic, confected excuse of a Club from WA - is the day we cash in our chips as NMFC supporters. He seems resigned to WC taking Reid at 1, he almost looked deflated when he said it.
I only provide retrospective opinions. So ask me in two years. So if you happen to get two of the top three picks year, who would you choose?
Jacko might not be part of the next flag side, but part of the squad that year, and a key cog in the team that gets us there.
I can see him playing 100 games
There were three tangible clues he offered about what we are after, aside from talent: talls, outside pace, and forward pressure.Did feel like McKercher/Duursma is the smart money, based on what he said.
If it's anything different on draft night, then credit to Thursfield for being elusive.
I thought I read forward pressure is a weakness for the Wizard? Two references made of pressure forward and dropping Watson's name during the interview.
The 2 scenarios taken from these comments are.
1. We take Watson at 2 or 3.
2. We take Collar at 1517 or 18.

I like that, except if we have the chance to get Wilson or Leake by trading 17 & 18 up then I would take that. Then try to get back in with our F2 for Dawson.HS Mock Draft has us taking Mckercher, Duursma, Collard, Dawson & Shoenmakers.

I thought the last one was interesting because I don’t know who in our pick range provides forward pressure, aside from Collard.
“He has areas of growth but there is such a value placed on forward 50 pressure in the AFL. Even when he isn’t hitting the scoreboard he is chasing and tackling and putting fear into defenders’ minds with what he could potentially do.”I thought I read forward pressure is a weakness for the Wizard?
Well yeh, essentially. We dont need him, you want him then whats the point of LDU?Taking Kerch may mean LDU is traded out
Mate, I can’t see it. How many honour boards does Twomy feature on in club rooms?Given 18 teams and draft/junior footy experts have him rated so highly, I think that’s a you problem mate.
He’s a gun, as for having his skill set covered, you’re kidding yourself. This kid will show up most our other mids in stoppage to stoppage gut running from the get go. We’ll also look a lot more dangerous from clearance as we can attack the Fwd line at different angles now that we’ve got a clever left footer in there.
He is the next best available after Reid and Walter, and he’ll be a bloody fantastic footballer in the royal blue and white.
I don’t think that you could say Simpkin is a 100% lock 1st choice midfield rotation. I could see someone like McKercher pushing him out in a few years.I like McKercher (just pointing this out again because there are some who seem to think I don't rate him, which isn't the case).
My problem is I really like LDU, Wardlaw, and Simpkin as our core midfield too. Who of those three does McKercher replace, because it's not really as if any of those three can play a HF/HB type role. They're all pure midfielders.
