A little surprise he stood down seeing he repeatedly said he will put his hand up again for captain.
I am happy for a change in direction.
Have no preference as to who is chosen.
Maybe this is another small piece of the puzzle for the Lions to make the next step towards a premiership.

Zorko can now concentrate on his footy and getting his 34-year-old body ready each week.

The AFL has had a lot of captain changes this year and maybe some more to come.

Look how Fox are reporting on it

Lions skipper Zorko, who led team out of wilderness, quits role after pre-finals sledge drama:rolleyes:

Gotta go Lachie.

Andrews needs to concentrate on his own form.
It may make Harris concentrate more on his own role and to lead by example and that would only be a good thing for the team.

What this would do is create the feeling of never completely being safe with your spot in the team.
Which would ultimately be a great thing to keep everyone fighting for position.
Don't think that would ultimately be a great thing at all. Nobody in the best 22 each week should need to fight for their position, they simply need to play the role given to them each week by their coach's. Providing they tick all the boxes while playing their given role, their position in the team will stay safe.

Match ups and team balance each game is a different story.

I put my hand up last week and admitted I was the one saying Zorko should step aside and we would change captains this year.

Glad to see it happened.

Zork's has been great and no doubt loves the club sticking with us through some tough times, I wish him all the best and glad he will be there to assist with the handover.

But Generation next is now and the next 4 to 5 years will be great, the new captain will be ------------

Disagree - pressure from under is exactly what they need.

Best media performer, clearly spoken and with existing media links - Lachie Neale

Best representative among the kids and supporters, clean living and good role model - Lachie Neale

Beautiful wife, beautiful life a sponsors dream - Lachie Neale

Current Lions player guaranteed in every week and performance not questioned by supporters - Lachie Neale

From the outside, player able to dig in and change the game in a personal burst - Lachie Neale

Leader among the players, respected onfield, able to drive and lead the team and execute strategy - ???? Unless you sit in the locker room this is hard to tell Lachie may be a bit of a one man show and Harris may be this bloke. The players vote could well be the most important.

Andrews . Even though looking at our KPD depth he might have enough to deal with without worrying about the rest of the team.

That was a disgraceful headline by Fox. Zorks was completely exonerated but didn't squeal like a cry baby when he had more than enough ammo of his own and took it on the chin. That's true leadership. A germ of a sledger , and btw totally lacking in any humor, like King should be the last person to have a go at Zorks.

As far as C graders go it wasn't that long ago that 18 of the 22 were C graders. I don't mind having C Graders in the team as long as they are A Grade at their role. Likewise some of our 'stars' could've done with a rocket up them at times last year so any pressure from below is welcomed. Overall ,and I'm just as guilty , supporters tend to overrate their players and we'll see just how good our depth is if we cop a few injuries.

The club has done a great job at recruiting players this year who fill in some gaps that we were missing so let's see.

I think Neale as Captain is a total no brainer and I can't figure out why there's even any discussion but I'm happy to put money down it'll be Andrews.

The appointment of our captain in 2023 is done differently to previous years.
