developing a new kick out strategy that actually works is exactly what the opposition thinks we'll do, you clearly know nothing about meta game theory, the howard bomb to the wing into turn over is the superior strategy

But he also ropes them in by selling candy like a moose on roller-skates after a few bourbons. Confuses the **** out of them....sometimes even himself and teammates. It's a skill.

To be fair it seemed like people thought he looked angry and frustrated. Suggesting giving him space to get some enjoyment back in his game isn't inferring that he's no good.
I don’t think anyone is suggesting he’s no good, or no good as captain

But he’s only been captain for one full season on his own… to toss him now seems premature at best, and completely bloody illogical at worst.

Personally, I’m not a fan of co-captains, but that’s just me. Also, I figure professional sportspeople don’t particularly need captains… and leaders don’t necessarily need outside recognition either…

But what would I know.

With Hayes gone again for 8-10 weeks. Is time to bring former West Coast player, Josh Kennedy out of retirement?
Great idea I'm sure he retired didnt eat hamburgers and drink more grogs and stayed pre season fit and will slot back in like he never left?

Nick Riewoldt will come back in 2024 and implement a kick out strategy of 21 players doing an NFL formation, allowing Howard to jog 150m while we smoke anyone within 5 meters of him ala: Brent Guerra on Cameron Ling in the Wizard Cup final

Howard will kick 200 goals for the season

Cordy as captain and Ratts reinstated IMO.

Time to wake up and start setting elite standards.

Coach changed, CEO changed, many new assistant coaches, fitness coach changed, many inhouse positions have changed.

What makes you think that the captains role is so safe when there has been so many other changes at the club.

When you are after a fresh start you do it on the field as well as off the field.

Heres a list of our captains...

Do you think it worried Riewoldt so much when he lost the captaincy to Luke Ball in 2005... NO.. it spurred him on to become the longest captain in our clubs history.

And yes I do know about GT's revolving captaincy concept.

Maybe change is a good thing and we embrace it rather than attacking it.

2005 specifically had a rotating captain policy. Its very different to them deciding he wasnt up to the task this year.

I think this discussion on Steele stepping down as captain really reflects how little most of you guys understand football and leadership.

Would kick 300 if Steele wasn’t dragging the team down with his substandard captaincy.

I'm more surprised you came to the conclusion that my post was anything but a joke. I couldn't really give a shit who the captain is. Whatever works for the players, then do it.

Marshall is going to be absolutely vital this year. Hearing about him tearing up the track, the thought of getting a full season out of him as the number one ruck is so exciting. He can dominate games in that position.

On the other hand if he goes down we are screwed.

This is St Kilda, so let’s go with option #2.

This. There’s some laughable strawmaning and hot-air blowing going on in here today.

Highly narcissistic stuff.

We should all be leading by example imo

Even Roo said it took him a few seasons to really feel comfortable with the leadership mantle.
