What don't you like about Erasmus on the wing?

How much depth do we need given we have Aish and O'Driscoll as incumbents? Also note you name Johnson and Henry in for Acres. Pretty decent depth.
Based on yesterday, Aish, Henry & O'Driscoll would surely be coaches preference for wing roster.

Height might be the worry with those three, so you might want a sizeable contested beast to add a dimension.

Just curious to see if there's any reports on how Sturt is going? Any progress with his game at all?
Yesterday it felt like he was there or thereabouts, but was frequently just 5° separated from the play. It can happen to forwards, but seemed to fade a bit the more it went on.

Drizz is not small. 188cm.

Bringing in the like of Corbett,Emmett and hopefully Stubbs isn’t necessarily if they are on the list they auto into 22. It creates depth in an area we suck at and that creates
Competition. If we continue with the same old forward line from last year we won’t go that extra step. A new look forward line will be a bit of fresh air and put a bit of unknown in terms of how opposing teams match up on us. That’s what pre season is about fighting for a spot come round one and mixing it up to see who fits where. If we line up like we did against the pies I expect the same result.

Except the forward line will be the most changed out of the positions.

Collingwood Semi Final:

HF: Schultz, Amiss, Frederick
FF: Logue, Lobb, Walters

Potentially Round 1:
HF: Schultz, Jackson, Frederick
FF: Switkowski, Tabs, Walters
Int: Treacy or Amiss

Wildcard: Fyfe?

There's plenty more competition for spots this time around. The Third tall is up in air. What to do with Amiss?
Could see Frederick on the wing and have Corbett around half forward.

The thing to consider with Stubbs vs Serong is the most likely scenario for recruiting Stubbs as a "now player" is that he'd be a "now depth player".

So you'd need to think the choice is a player on the list mainly for "in case" and may have 2-3 years of not playing (and being at his ceiling) vs a player who may not play much in that same 2-3 years, but who has much greater promise to be developing into a high value player.

Switkowski has some history of injuries so it's reasonable to look for ready to go cover for him. It's also great to read about Walters preseason form on top of his strong end to last season, but there is a clock ticking.

Is there a chance we can pick one up now and pick the other up later?
Serong Snr is signed up ffs. If Stubbs is a better fit for us in 2023 give him the spot. Get Serong Jnr to run around in Peel for a season and then draft him mid season or draft.

Stubbs kicked 23 from 12 in an awful wafl side. That’s pretty bloody good tbh. He will be picked up by the Eagles if we’re not careful.

Ideally both. But, unless there's something unforeseen, it's one or none.

There's something about Serong after seeing him live that vibes the impression he's got what it takes.

Of course it depends on your preference.

If David Walls were making the call, I reckon he'd go Serong. Who knows what Longmuir and the list management team might decide. Still a bit to play out though.

We risk Serong showing up at Peel and then getting picked by another team like Derksen though

So if we rate Serong a higher long term prospect then we should take Serong

The rotations and shear depth in there might make it hard but I'd really like to see Switta either get 2-3 minutes onball each quarter or take a couple of centre bounces each quarter. It was amazing watching him spend just a little bit of time in there that game we were seriously depleted last year. He's dynamism stands out amongst our mids
I agree completely in regard to the role of Switta. I like the idea of starting Serong in the forward line and Switta starting in the centre 4 or 5 times a game (Then they swap roles in general play) to give us a different mix and make us unpredictable at centre bounces. Plus if we get the clearance Serong gives us a different look forward too as he's great at roving packs and can fly for a mark. It's easy to forget he was compared to Robbie Grey as a draftee.

I like the look of Stubbs, and personally would like both players, but if had to choose one it would be Serong. It would be ideal to have him developing at Peel alongside Knobel, Draper and Benning the next generation of talls. He looks promising at finding the ball coming off 3 years of interrupted development, is athletically gifted, and will fill out to be a big unit.

If he’s not selected he returns to Gippsland Power as an over-ager who could go bang this year. Plus now SOS has an extra spot to fill I think he’d easily find his way onto a list.

From what I’ve seen of Stubbs at WAFL he is very different player to Switta. Miles different.

Stubbs whilst offering some decent pressure played more of the role that Banfield played and at times the role from Griffin Logue when positioned deeper forward. I felt Logue’s best forward line work was when he moved well up the wing as link up forward but also at times played deep forward and that is where I’ve seen Stubbs play his best work at Demons. He is in no way a small forward. Chunky/muscular 186/187cm lead up medium forward.
