2nd hand info, but bloke reporting for 6PR tonight from Channel 9, Mitch somebody (not Woodcock), said Stubbs kicked 3 goals and got into in a bit of yap with Chapman.

He also said Amiss kicked 3 and was a good target, flew for marks - one goal was a snap from a quick recovering after contesting and his other two goals were from free kick infringements.
It's was a fairly low key bit of surlyness, mostly initiated by Stubbs.

Stubbs got a bit of a gift of a htb decision from memory and went on with it a bit.The umpires were paying them at will today, which was interesting. Don't know if that was the particular umpires, a club request or AFL direction.

NOD heaps better for the 2nds. He may have been needed to work on his inside game
O'Driscoll had some great scything bursts through the guts. Everything he did didn't always come off, but you'd take it for what you got when it did.

Paid some attention to Henry and noticed his industriousness and smart link ups. If based on today only, I'd be betting he's got good claims on tenure for a piece of a starting wing spot.

A thing that really stood out about Chapman in his colts days was his intensity. It lifted him to a level above everyone else. It's a vital part of his game and for whatever reason he seems to be without it right now. Could be a case of him just needing the real stuff to light that spark.

Chapman's been in the rehab group until recently hasn't he?

I'm wondering who played in the Grey team backline - with Hamling in the purple. I've read the reports so far and Draper has been mentioned as one key position back and I've seen Trae Bennell in the training photos and one other player in those pics I don't recognise.

I gotta admit I didn't pay close attention to the backline personnel. There were a few running around who weren't immediately recognisable. I did take some video, maybe some hints there at a long shot.

Hamling slotting in purple while Cox was out makes sense

Grey would have been light on KPDs unless Davies played?

There's quite a long review that goes for about 15minutes of todays training with Mitch Woodcock on SEN with Hasleby and Martin.

There's a little bit of additional info not mentioned in the reports today. The interview from about 3min to 19 minutes in this link.

Schultz is the one I’d drop for a Zurhaar type
Hello, Sam Stubbs.
Doesn't look fully engaged yet. A bit distracted like.
I'd pay that. He was one of a few who seemed to be going only 90% in the warm ups. Hamling was another, who I was thinking was "sprinting" like someone who felt his chances of cracking the 22 were not good. These were just warm ups, mind.

I didn't notice the backs for either side much, tbh. Draper played back for grey, and so did Mzungu, I think, though he seemed everywhere too. More than few times, I said to myself we should get Mzungu back in the side.

Yeah Tendai playing in defence there nearly slipped my mind. He didn't look all that far off it at all.

Club better give Stubbs that last spot and not get sentimental like when we threw Oreilly jnr a spot on an AFL list.
Serong still shows a bit and likely has more upside over the longer term. Stubbs showed yesterday his greater plug'n'play immediacy. Just depends on what you prefer, slightly bigger gamble on greater future returns or smaller gamble for the shorter term.

Clubs running what looks to be Manning Park today ??
If anyone is wants to track the results of the finishes 🤣

Depends if the Clubs mindset is on our window being 2023/2024 or 25 and beyond.

Stubbs scored 23 goals from 12 games at WAFL level last season.

Personally I’d back our best 22 smalls to match those numbers easily if we dropped them back to WAFL level. Only thing that would stop them would be increased midfield minutes at that level.

Not trying to write off Stubbs or anything but I think those that think he’s best 22 shouldn’t be too disappointed if it doesn’t end up that way.

Personally I think if it’s close between Stubbs and L.Serong I’d go with L.Serong. There’s seven years difference between the two. Until yesterday it sounded like quite a close contest.
