And the irony was his last year his his best for games played (15) in that 10th year. Best for stats as well, goals down on 1992 (14 games, 21 goals, before the knee), but a really good year on 1997. Great memories.
Don't think I ever got to see him play live. Was a weapon though, barrel chested charging towards goals. You would not want to be in his way.

What is the likelyhood of Acres in the guts and Doch playing wing?
Boyd's firing in the VFL, should be sub this week.

Acres could easily play through the middle (was involved in many centre bounce drills during preseason), but his end to end running and body strength is a weapon as a starting wingman

Nope, first 3 centre bounces Pitto only won the first one (was a great palm down to Crippa). The other 2 he lost comprehensively, our inside mids are good enough to work off the opposition ruckman- a little silver service is nice but IMO Pittos stats are padded by mids who read it very very well.

The idea that the only contribution he offers is winning the tap is faulty, and why he is valued by Voss and the players.

Pitto provided blocks and restricted Gawns ability to gather the ground ball or influence the stoppage.

There is also the intangible effect of giving team mates the sense that the unit as a whole can’t be beaten. Hard to quantify but nevertheless a factor.

Reckon it was the light blue m and m game. McGuire's first and only forgettable game for us. To this day , I still let people know that McGaune never a wore navy blue guernsey
McGuane wore the navy blue twice (Rd 1 and 2). The M&M's game was his last with us.

Impressive size/strength for his running capacity. Apart from the customary out on the full every match, he's been massive in this stretch of wins.

He might not have gotten the tap for the second ruck contest but he followed up got the handball to Cripps and went to block Petracca leaving Cripps free to exit. Thought Pitt actually had a very good game against Gawn - it was clear on the TV at least that he was effectively tagging Gawn, especially in that first half. Completely stopped Gawn's influence around the ground by playing a purely selfless role perfectly. People also underestimate how much his physicality wears down other rucks making TDK more effective as the game goes on

On the customary OOTF has anyone noticed Acres always smiling/laughing after kicking it? It's almost like he knows he's gonna have a great game after that first kick goes out

Response was to the poster stating that Pitto was responsible for the taps early on in the fourth- was just pointing out he didn’t.
Yes, having a big body around the grounds is very handy & he does do some good tap work.
There’s pros & cons on 2 ruckman, it will come down to opposition, conditions & game plan which will determine our line up. Personally I like the TDK/JSOS combo, gives more flexibility

Have u notice we laugh at it now as well. Normally it would piss me off, Acres I wear it pretty happily

Tbh it's pretty impressive to get one a game 🤣 And agree on Acres his performances have been so good I am happy to wear it. So good to have a winger with the capacity to not only run for days (both ways) but also have the strength and height to compete aerially

I think the fact he doesn't miss tackles in the forward line is the highlight for me.

He may not be the fastest player or even the most skilled but what he brings is pressure to the opposition or preconceived pressure so their disposal is poor.

For me he is the reason our forward line is locking the ball in our forward 50 so well
Fog was always rated
Cats still owed us from a couple ordinary deals from way back when henderson got tuohy to follow him.....hesa good player.....was a huge loss..then we got a few very ordinary trades from them then Fog..
Fog had some injury with bad ankle issues similar to kennedy, even daisy...thet take a long time to recover properly from those
Fog just shows how important the coaches and performance team are...they found his sweet spot, plus a few others at the moment

lets hope the team can keep the sweet spot happening..............its good

They’ve loaded up for a scalp so we’ll have to be on given its their final home game of the season. I have no reason to doubt that the boys understand what’s at stake. Us by 15-25 IMO
they beat Lions a couple weeks ago on their home ground, was a nasty intense physical grinding game and they actually solidly defeated Bris..
they can take a few teams, and yes they are also a fit physical team...either way Blues will be tired the week after this game..

Ben King out replaced by Chol
