Yes but it didn't work so do we stick with it
Nope, not for now anyway. Voss said in his presser that they took the opportunity to take a look at a few different things tonight, I don't think it was anything more than that.

Least emotional I've been about a loss in a long time.

I'm sure Voss would have prefered the win but with players going down left right and centre its a blessing we walked away with minimal injuries (🤞for Acres)

Some interesting coaching calls during the game;

Walsh on Green most the game
Dow barely at CB for the second half
Did Fogarty switch into the back line as some point in the last and Fisher move forward?

But maybe it was trialling things in preparation for the finals

All in All few things stood out for me;

Walsh & Cerra were hopefully better for the run, definitely average games for both
Dow and Hewitt both had nice moments but also disappeared for portions if the game. I'm sure Dow got read the riot act for the 50m while on the phone but his history shows he will cop it and grow.
McGovern looked good and those who look for the risky pass will eventually have one intercepted
I think Fisher is out for the next game but don't think he should be slaughtered for the mistakes he made. He is learning a new position and one poor game doesn't make the end if his career at Carlton
Weitering should be fine
Cincotta and Cuningham are walking a fine line at the moment between being in the team and someone coming in for them.
Out half backs had very average days and we exposed badly by the smalls on the opposition team

Anyway a week off, a freshness into the team and we are playing FINALS!

Surprised people are so bothered by Cunners’ game. Had a few uncharacteristic skill errors, but got plenty of handballs out of congestion. Underrated part of his game. Many worse players out there tonight.

Unperturbed by the game. Unrealistic to expect a team that has locked in a home final to give everything against a team playing for a finals berth. Result seems about right. Was good to get a run into Walsh, Cerra etc. Both looked like they needed it.

If any concerns (aside from Acres), it’s H and, secondly, bombing it forward to Charlie, but felt like we started lowering our eyes and looking for other options as the game progressed.

Expect a completely different showing in two weeks.

Not at all worried about the result, but on an individual level there were concerning signs like the normally clean Cuningham fumbling everything, the forwards often seemingly refusing to find separation in the F50, general turnovers after really positive buildups...
i agree with this, but not just Cunners. I think we could go through the whole team and see fumbles from usually one touch players. Charlie dropped a no pressure chest mark FFS.

Switched off after Charlie snagged the Coleman.

Weird game, after Charlie clinched the Coleman, it was like what now?
Think it was more Saad Weiters scares que in the rack than not knowing what to do after the Coleman was locked.

Really didn't want to lose anyone after that whilst the Giants were forced to give their all. A huge shane about Acres.

Cue in the rack effort.

Charlie got the Coleman outright.

Good to get a game under the belt of some players returning from injury.

Bloody hell though... those in the crowd leaving halfway through the last quarter... what a pack of quitters... they've won 9 in a row and you cbf sticking to the end...

Would have thought Toby's dangerous tackle was more blatent and 'game missable' than anything Weiters did.

Agreed, the still of what Weitering did makes it look a lot worse than it was. Definitely silly but no way is it worth a week.

Love all the fans copping it on social media for that mass exodus in the 4th

Teams made the finals, won 9 in a row and people were walking out

Shameful stuff

Shit time for a footy game, we stayed but don’t have an issue if people want to get home before 10pm on a Sunday night when the game was gone

We were always under pressure. Their top players had a night out. I wondered about some of the tactics and match ups which indicated to me that we were looking for something different from the game and hoping for a win.

There were positives. Charlie winning the Coleman. Walsh, Cerra and McGovern getting a high intensity hit out under the belt. The first half was competitive and I didn’t see that third quarter coming.

I hate losing but there are no consequences as a result of losing. I’m glad we don’t have to go to Docklands for awhile. It resembled an ice skating rink tonight.

* off Foxtel, they're really cheering a weitering report
Expected narrative. If the shoe was on the other foot, Toby would be crucified blah blah blah. Ignores the fact that Weitering is squeaky clean and doesn’t have a track record for doing dirty $hit. Not that I agree with the “Toby tax”, but the bloke has made his own bed.

There's all sorts of ways of quitting......

Not sure what the crowd no. was, but Marvel stadium was full of Carlton supporters with plenty of early voice. So if the players and coaches have put the cue in the rack, can’t see why supporters can’t do similar, especially being it’s a Sunday night game.

Then why go in the first place?

Think H will be fine for finals. Important to get another run into him like the three that came in

Think Voss was playing match simulation. We went away from a lot of the things that are working for us in favor of trying different things to potentially add layers. "What if the middle is taken away from you? Then what?" type stuff as we rarely used the corridor tonight

Definitely some looking at answering "if we only have one ruck how do we cope?" and discovered that H can do some forward rucking but is lost when asked to do it around the ground. That means either both rucks have to play or TDK rucks and plays back behind the ball more often than he can drift forward.

Also think we played as safe as possible after those two first quarter scares. I think it was much more this than.

As much as I want DC to impose himself into games more he's never going to be qn accumulator nor was the manner in which we were playing really suitable for his skill set. Thought he did some nice things when he had it.

Acres injury might keep the door open for Dow to retain his spot. I could easily see Hollands getting one wing and a combo including Walsh taking the other.

We really missed the infield stewardship and leadership Doc and Cripps provide in addition to their regular own performance levels. Both make everyone around them better. Doc for Fish seems likely for mine and likely Cripps for Acres if he doesn't get up. If he does then Dow might revert to sub.

Still not sold on Marchy being the out instead of Cincotta. I love both but I find Marchy to be the steadier influence of the two as well as being cover in case one of our big 3 goes down.
