I think a few posters have said he doesn't have a tank in the magoos, so a cameo of a quarter was perfect for him to go flat out.
Hopefully he can build that tank as he looks like he could be anything
👍

That stint should motivate him to work hard now you’d think …one of the benefits of giving youngsters opportunity

I think his best asset is his ability to kick on both sides
He had a few kicks on his left that were very average, he anit no Diesel. But he's not alone on that point. They don't seem to working their wrong side like they used to, but prefer to kick on the outside of their preferred foot

I said a couple of weeks ago that I didn't want this team to play finals.

I now say that I do want THIS team to play finals. This team, not necessarily the exact personnel, but these guys who play four quarters, have each other's back, who lower their eyes kicking inside 50.

I didn't want us to make finals while playing terribly, by default. The way we played today, I'll back them in every week.

Yep I felt the same way watching yesterday.

I did not think once we’d shit the bed or let them back in because it felt like an entirely different group out there.

Minimal changes next week and, **** it, make these senior blokes a bit nervous for the next few weeks.

Pittos ruck dominance was influential particularly when the game was still an arm wrestle. Got quite a few clearances himself and was hard at the ground ball. Big tick. Needs to bring that every week.
No love on here for Pitto's 2 marks?!

The big man played very well.

Makes you wonder wtf he was doing in recent weeks....

Are we back? Surely we're back!

I know West Coast aren't great but that's the best footy we've played in over a month.

Loved the changes, even if some were forced. Loved the debutants, and lobed the way blokes stepped up, especially Ollie and Kempy.

Patrick Cripps is an absolute beast! No words needed for his efforts today.

100%. It’s not that we won but the way we won that impressed me. I thought we played a more modern running game. Maybe we learnt something off Hawks last week?

So many positives

Kemp
Ollie
Cincotta
Binns
Lord
Moir

Great to have options and potentially some real depth

For all the names we discuss, it’s the WAY we bring it in that has been my issue all year.

Whether it was a plan or caused by our line up I just hope we keep doing it as it was excellent
Yeah absolutely …

Seeing the joy on the players faces says it all really

I hope this is the start of our run and gun style of play…more mobile players and keep the ball moving fast

And last but not least lower the eyes going into f50

I think we’ve most got the players needed…another 2-3 could set us up for a really good season next year

Yeah he’d be good at that ….

Wonder if that will put more stresses on his knees?

That could be a worry.

What about along wing? Roam up and down marking and bullet passing into f50?
Either would be great.

The wing would probably put as much stress on his knees as playing on ball.

As good as a forward he is, it would be great to see his talent used up the ground.

Thoroughly enjoyed that game.

Hope the coach's stick with the run and carry/handball chain/lowering your eyes when entering the forward line plan.(Way better than the out-of-date contested ball, kick it to H & C one)

And Pitto!!! WTF has he been hiding for the last month for?
Kemp finally played in a position to show his strengths, not his weaknesses.
Looks like Binns could have played earlier after all, he's not a lock, but AFL capable.
Lord's debut was impressive.
Even Young looked confident and released handballs instead of undecisive little kicks.

I think it would be more an on ball roll.
Let him roam the ground.

I wanted Charlie on ball before he did his knee. I think he now ready to try this again

I would love our coaches to start making us unpredictable and more of a team contribution game

Charlie and Kemp can easily have midfield minutes and Harry can play Ruck.

IF we can deliever the ball better it makes us unpredictable and dangerous

Bring the smalls into the game and you get energy. Durdin was excellent, Owies very good and although Motlop didn't have a massive game he was great defensively and was involved in 8 scores

I was really impressed with Williams playing an almost CHF role. His marking up the wing to give options was impressive

Williams move to f50 one of the biggest moves so far

He’s a very smart player both in terms of one on one contests and the way he uses the ball…he’s got it 👍

An absolute joy of a game to watch.

Looked like the boys were genuinely enjoying their footy again.

Question which crossed my mind, how do we think the season would've gone if we have played Young as the 2nd KPF and Kemp up forward for the whole season?

It isn't just the 4 goals that should have Kemp put ahead of the ball permanently.

4.1 goals, 6 marks (2 contested), 5 tackles (3 inside forward 50), 7 score involvements.

Harry averages 2.5 tackles a game, Charlie 0.9. That stat alone is damning.

But not in any way unusual.

Hogan averages 1.3.
Waterman 1.2.
B. King 0.6.
J. Cameron 1.8.
Georgiades 1.4.
I could go on forever.

Key forwards don't tackle. Competition-wide. Harry averages more tackles per game than any pure key forward in the comp. Sam Darcy and Mabior Chol have him covered by 0.3 tackles per game, but attend 40-50% more centre bounces.

Charlie is on the lower end for a KPF, I'll give you that. But he's got company. Waterman, Daniher, Larkey, King, Allen, Fritsch, Gunston, Naughton, McStay, Lynch, McDonald, Lewis, Taberner - they're all around the same mark (close enough that the difference is negligible).

Think the expectations for our two talls need to be tampered a bit. I'd rather see an increased focus on their up-the-ground work rather than their defensive efforts inside 50. Moving Kemp forward next year would help with that, significantly. One of the three can roam and provide a marking target on the wing, still leaves us with two dangerous targets inside 50.
