Will you guys stop it! I wanted him to figure it out all for himself. He went to get great lengths to explain why he wasn’t selected, how average his 2022 form was, perhaps he forgot he was actually selected, played well and then was dropped.
I mean, he wasn't good that game, but certainly worth persisting with. I hope he starts rd1 next year.

Well you did rate Newchurch above him and wasn’t there a feeding frenzy when he was delisted 🙄.

If Cook could play three consecutive decent matches in the Twos he would be selected. I hope he has a huge preseason and turns things around because he has talent but he is a master at disappearing during games.

Rachele was selected and we just kept playing him.
Soligo was selected and we just kept playing him.
Pedlar was selected and we just kept playing him.
Michaelanney was selected and we just kept playing him.
Thilthorpe was selected and we just kept playing him.
Hinge was selected and we just kept playing him.
Murray was selected and we just kept playing him.

In 2022 Cook played 8 AFL games and averaged 10 disposals, kicked 3 goals and had one goal assist.

You do the maths.

No, Cook wouldn't. We don't give two shits about SANFL performance. Case in point our SANFL club champion got the axe.

Cook doesn't get games because we don't rate him compared to our other wing options. Equally we've shown in the last two years we'd rather have no one playing as a forward then Cook. For whatever reason Nicks and co. are lukewarm on Brayden. It's the same situation as what Worrell found himself in this year. The only way in is injuries and Cook needs to be hot when they strike.

Cook needs a big preseason or he will probably be in our first round of delistings at the end of next year.

For a first game of the year he played well enough, we’ve had senior players play a lot worse than that and keep their spot
Should not have been dropped

There were a number of decisions later in the year to drop players that were questionable at best - Cook being one of them

I get that he’s been maybe somewhat inconsistent and not winning as much contested footy in the twos as he could be, but is at a point where’s he’s already ‘delist’ material next year?

That 2020 draft is looking rancid overall and although Cook seemed a bit of a punt given his lack of football there are not many taken behind him - other than Gulden who was an academy pick - who we'd swap for even today. After three years this really is the last chance saloon but I'm backing Brayden to surpass the games record of 14 for a Crow named Cook in 2024! Might even surpass the games total for players named Cook (Tim, Myke and Sudjai) if he plays 12 games for the season.

Was it Soligo that was brought back to replace Cook ....or was it Rachele ?

Whichever ...I remember it being the right call at the time

If he plays 12, the Cooks will be up to 49, with Brayden only on 24. He'll never be able to surpass the total for players names Cook, unless he changes his name.

Yeah Soligo (who was originally named sub until they changed it to Sloane)

If we’re being real Cook should’ve being playing ahead of Rory, at the very least

Of coarse not, came into the "ëlite" system at South later than most draftees so I'd be surprised if we didn't persist with him a while longer. We traded up for him so he had qualities our guys liked.
Yeah my thoughts too. Should realistically start to seem some decent return on his development, now he’s coming into his 4th year

Probably. I think Cooks biggest issue is we seem to really have taken a liking to Nankervis on top of everyone else we have and we really do only see Cook as an outside midfielder.

They can both play, different roles ....Nank (wing / mid) ....Cook (fwd)

Cook should really be aiming to make the role of that medium fwd that pushes up the ground a bit his own, now Shane’s left

He has an opening in 2024 - his progress could be a factor re: whether or not we chase Hayward as a FA

Totally agree .....looked really comfortable as a FWD ....same role he played at South in underage

Seems to have trouble reading the game on a wing / HB

Except we've not shown any interest in Cook being a forward at the pro level, so mentioning it is currently irrelevant. Equally, Nankervis moving into the midfield is also too far away to also be realistic.

When it comes to 2024, both are competing for the same role, which is that last outside midfield slot. We've also shown we prefer Nank, after all, we gave him the half back role and we decided to retain Nank when we dropped Cook despite both performances being very similar.

You can, but I am going to further back my point up because we saw this scenario play out this year in our selections, and one thing you can never accuse Adelaide of doing is playing their cards close to their chest. Take your mind back to Round 4 against Fremantle, where McAdam and Pedlar were both rubbed out.

Our answer to that quandry: in comes Murphy and McHenry. A McHenry who proceeded to get one of the cruellest demotions to the sub I've seen the club do in the following week. One that should really get a players agent getting their feelers out for a new club level of bad.

We made the world know we don't rate McHenry as a possible best 22 player and still, we preferred him over Cook in the forward line.

The past does not necessarily dictate the future .....particularly Football ...IF the player has the necessary physical attributes & skills ....Cook & Nankervis do

Cook obviously needs to improve a few things but he also needs a coach to believe in him and back him

I don't think he has that at all. The coaching group don't rate the things he does well and are enamoured with the things he does poorly. He's the Bizarro Lachlan Murphy

Who will replace Rahilly?

For all we know, McHenry Agent probably did shop him around. Based on his output for us, I dont imagine any club would have been interested. Great sub but his full game output is not outstanding enough to keep him in the best 22. From the moment I first saw him play, it was obvious he will always be a depth player. Better than crap but not best 22.

Amazing isn’t it? Mitch Hinge never had a coach that believed in him at Brisbane and now I look at him and think he can be top 3 player for this club for the next 10 years. Belief and continuity can achieve awesome results.

To be honest, this now becomes the most important thing for us this off-season

Hoping we’re doing a deep dive for the most knowledgeable candidate
