Something of a triple header today, starting with our reigning premiers unfurling the premiership flag before opening the season against Box Hill at 11.

It’s also the 100th VFLW game for Mia-Rae Clifford, making league history as the first VFLW player to reach this milestone.

yodellinhank I just found an article with the 2023 VFLW list changes in it (club website is awful for this stuff). The format is awful.

The numbers have changed for anyone who isn't in the AFLW side also, so similar to the VFL where they use all the higher numbers that the AFLW team isn't using. So Ugle has gone from 1 to 41, and Clifford from 4 to 47, but there doesn't seem to be a full list of changes anywhere. The match centre still has Sarge as 1 as well (her AFLW number), she's actually wearing jumper 80 today. Ryan is also in 76, not 31.

The players who were delisted from the AFLW aren't properly marked in the below either... like Ryan and Sargent were delisted but they're still playing with the VFLW team so they're listed under AFLW arrivals, while EAC, Ayre, and Fede Frew are marked as VFLW departures as delisted, even though they were promoted first.

Last season: 15-0-2 (Premiers)
Coach: Travis Cloke (new)

Arrivals: Lily Bateman (Maribyrnong Park), Melanie Bateman (Marcellin), Tia Davidge (Castlemaine), Madison Gray (Port Melbourne), Caitlin Grech (Strathmore), Tayla Hart-Aluni (Moonee Valley), Manaia Huta (Darebin), Shelby Meyers (Oak Park), Jaimee-Lee Morrow (Western Bulldogs VFLW), Maddy Pearson (St Bedes-Mentone), Chloe Prpic (Coburg), Jayda Richardson (Yarra Valley Cobras), Krystal Russell (Yarraville/Western Jets), Leah Spargo (Keilor), Sophie Ure (Moonee Valley), Maddi Wilson (Carlton VFLW); Essendon AFLW: Sophie Alexander (Collingwood AFLW), Daria Bannister (North Melbourne AFLW), Brooke Brown (North Melbourne AFLW), Mia Busch (Hawthorn VFLW), Stephanie Cain (Fremantle/Swan Districts), Amber Clarke (Casey Demons), Georgia Clarke (Geelong AFLW), Leah Cutting (St Kilda), Ellyse Gamble (Western Bulldogs AFLW), Georgia Gee (Carlton AFLW), Zoe Hurrell (Sydney), Kodi Jacques (Richmond), Cat Phillips (St Kilda), Madison Prespakis (Carlton AFLW), Caitlin Sargent (North Melbourne VFLW), Paige Scott (Geelong VFLW), Casidhe Simmons (GWS), Annabelle Strahan (Western Bulldogs AFLW), Bonnie Toogood (Western Bulldogs AFLW), Sophie van de Heuvel (Geelong AFLW), Mia van Dyke (Geelong VFLW), Ash van Loon (Geelong VFLW), Jacqui Vogt (St Kilda), Steph Wales (Casey Demons), Brooke Walker (Carlton AFLW), Lily-Rose Williamson (Traralgon/Gippsland Power), Jessica Wuetschner (Brisbane Lions)

R2 vs Southern Saints - Sunday 2nd April @ 3pm
It's the Grand Final rematch this Sunday afternoon (3pm) at Trevor Barker Beach Oval in Sandringham.

Match is part of a double-header, following on from our VFL (Men's) game (which starts at 12pm).
If you attending both games you have to pay the entry fee, but if you show up after half-time of the men's, it's free entry.

VFLW game will be live streamed on AFL.com.au but I believe without commentary.

If coming by public transport, take the Sandringham line train to Hampton station (about a 30 minute trip from Flinders Street) and then it's a 10 minute walk to the ground.
