To be there with my 16 y/o son, hugging each other after the siren.
Singing the song with pure elation together.

Hearing the loudest roar that I have ever experienced was incredible.
The stand literally rocked when the Blue juggernaut rose as one.

Truly one of the great nights of my life, THANKS BLUE BOYS.

If this is not HEAVEN I don't know what is.

A victory of pure heart and guts with hero's galore. :muscle::muscle::muscle:

Just love Blake Acres so much! Who would have thought he'll forever be a Carlton hero!

We are in the Prelim bitches.

I am still in shock.

Blake Acres.

Every week his game grows.

Every win makes his trade cost (a future 3rd) lessen.

What a brilliant pick-up.
I chatted to him at a vfl game once. Lovely guy. Gave a lot of himself. Loves Carlton already.

He’s another of the breed I love about this team. Tough as ****. Humble. No snipers. No dogs. They play the right way. It’s ****ing awesome.

You’re right A.L.
He’s really coming of age now.
Last week took some really impressive one grab marks around the ground.
He believes now and he’s going to be a serious serious player going forward …

He’s the key next week, he has a big game we win
Would be awesome if it started from the 1st minute and kicks a goal or two then Charlie and Harry will get plenty of space to do their best work in

Gee, you’d hate to owe Doc $20 wouldn’t you.
He’d hunt you down
He’s bloody relentless
He just keeps going and going and going 💪💪💪
Nah, he'd probably help you earn the $20 to pay it back.

And then he'd donate it to charity...

I didn't think we'd get up yesterday. I thought after the week of media belting, after a need to recalibrate and the prospect of making history in a bad way - only side ever to go out in straight sets two years running - they'd respond in a big way. It's a bit revealing of who this version of Melbourne is that the week they had didn't spur them towards playing better or harder footy but pushed them towards trying to knock blokes heads from their shoulders. It pushed them into slamming shoulders into jaws, heads into fences. It saw multiple attempts to injure players - not, put a bit of apprehension in; genuine fear of getting hurt - who were trying to play the ball.

If the Dees learnt a lesson from last week, it was that the team that hurts an opposition player will probably win the match.

But then we see the response. Okay, we'll play the ball then. You want to **** around, you can **** around; we'll gladly take the free kicks and the 50's. You ain't distracting us. We'll play the ball, we're bigger and meaner and you're perfectly welcome to take your shot. You're only getting one, and when you come at the king you'd better not miss. There is that famous Scott Burns attempted hit on Michael Voss that has been mentioned; the game was that exchange in macrocosm; they belted us only for us to get up harder and more determined to go than before.

That it was so close is only due to missing Martin and McKay. They can content themselves with the 'stolen' mantra; we played yesterday missing 2.8 goals on average. We were more coherent winning forward than they were, we were more dangerous when winning stoppages than they were. Their mids kicked 2 goals 4; ours kicked 6.1; where you were strongest we beat you where it matters. Go **** yourself with the notion that you lost the game as opposed to us winning it; when and where it mattered, we were cleaner in attack than you were. Even with our champion full forward held well by May, we still score more than anyone has against you for almost two months. Talk about playing under a handicap and winning anyway.

There are more stories that will come out of last night's game, miniature intrigues and prophetic pieces that will pass into folklore as memory becomes posterity. This was one for those who found a way to believe, after a decade of being given the evidence that belief was only the path to cruelest bitterness.

This season has a feeling of destiny about it. We've beaten the rest of the top 4, the only side we haven't toppled is Brisbane; we have them up there next week. Our path is, as it has been since round 13, our own to decide. This is either wall or gateway; in either case, it is history in the making.

Let's see if we can complete the set. Let's rout Brisbane in their own foxhole; let's make this one a victory tour.

Carn, the Blues!

OMGGGG what a game what a win!!

I have to be honest halfway through the last quarter I thought we were done. I turned to my ex and said it's only 7 points but it feels like 4 goals. Even when Walsh kicked the first goal of the last quarter I thought we looked spent. But for this group of players to find a way to win again, just extraordinary and so proud to be a Carlton person this morning.

Without going into too much detail....

Blacres - put simply is the king of Carlton at this moment. Did his shoulder again in the first minute. Just amazing resilience

Doc - dislocated shoulder and came back out and played the entire second half and made a big difference in the end. Heroic.

Cripps - got us going at the start of the last quarter when we looked gone. Two vital clearance wins. Another playing injured

Weitering - just immense all night

Hollands - made a difference when he came on! Re-energised a team that looked out on it's feet.

Harry and martin back next week with a free swing at Brisbane. Kind of surreal we are one win away from the big dance. Bring it!

Hi all, your friendly reminder freo offered Blakers 180,000 a year. We offered (reportedly) 350,000 and a third round pick.
Do you think we should set up a gofundme. He clearly is better than that + got screwed on our offer.

We got champagne on a beer budget.
95k members at $5. Would be a first of its kind.

Bullen the piece of s**t should get weeks for his attack on Acres. In the first 5 min he tries to pop his shoulder out after a dead ball then smacks it a minute later off the ball.
The AFL was supposed to stamp that s**t out. The first one was 100% trying to pop it (& that’s a trained/professional view - where he applied the pressure & how he did it was completely malicious)

They clearly went for him and got him.

Pickett is a filthy swine, I thought at least if they get up he wont play. He literally could've had Cripps out of the game and next week. I still remember him giving it to Newnes when he kicked the winner last year. Oh so sweet to see him lose I really really deteste this guy.

Sliding Doors

If

Luke Jackson started the blitz that won Melbourne a premiership in 2021.

Then

He just may have cost them one in 2023. Blake Acres shown the door at Freo to fit him. Carlton get him for peanuts and kicks the sealer, double whammy!!

Arrow…..esrlier I said “we need to be brave when it counts.” You agreed.

Weitering a kick in board was out of this world. Then on the 45 hollands to doc. Then doc in board again cutting back on the 45.

They ******* did it.

They stayed brave when they needed to.
Each of these were centimetre perfect kicks. Absolutely elite!

I’m Aboriginal, even I was booing the flog, tried to take our captains head off, and another 2 times was a sniper.. He deserved every boo he got! Fake tough guys are the worst! Put him in the same basket as Tom Lynch and Brayden Maynard… Fake tough guys!
Need to address the racism towards Kosi.
Was disgusting!!!

Christ on a bike.

I had my kids at my place tonight. Doesn't happen all that often these days. I knew it needed to be movie night... 7.30 the phone went into flight mode, and we sat down to watch Spider-Man. And when Tobey Maguire said to Doc Ock, sometimes we gotta be steady and give up our dreams, I felt like saying amen, brother.

9.45, shoo the kids off to bed, get the first half rolling on Kayo. 21-2, WTF. 22-32, go you good Blue things. 11pm, 31-33 at the half, and jangling nerves. Now for the hard part. Switch off the stream, to save it reverting to full-time when the live broadcast finishes. Hang out the laundry (it's definitely still winter in Canberra). Then a mountain of washing-up. 12.30am, surely the stream is safe now. Kayo back on.

That third quarter, and watching them grind us down, after a nice early goal by Kennedy. Three-quarter time, and we're lucky to be within 6. And then the last, centre-bounces are a godsend for us, Walsh best on ground two weeks in a row, and we steal a tiny break. But then we start kicking it to May... and again... and again. The Dees are going forward with purpose now, Richo says it's over if they kick this one... or that one... or that one. I'm 50 years of age... and hiding behind the couch, at 1.30am. Stupid game. Three bullets dodged, down by 9.

And then something from nothing. The only bloke that can stop May marking it, turns out to be Lever. What about Docherty, dislocated shoulder, but absolutely clutch in Q4. Clean hands to Motlop, and we're back in it. On my knees in front of the telly.

Still Melbourne are driving forward, and our forays are weakening. Lever intercepts with 90 seconds left, and surely they run it down from here. Out to the wing, good conservative football... but still we're chasing and tackling. Finally, a glimmer as Viney is forced onto his right, and it lands on Weitering's chest.

Into the corridor, because he has to. No-one's there. Wait, Hollands is there, will it get to him? Not a contested mark yet. Great heart, great run, he does mark it, and he goes. There's only one good choice, he takes it, and he kicks with penetration. (The value of fresh legs. I decided last week I hated teenage subs; I'm in the process of revising that opinion.) That man Docherty again, can he get outside Langdon? He... CAN!! Langdon overcommits, GO FOR HOME, WHO'S IN THE SQUARE? ACRES, GO BACK... WHAT ARE YOU DOING??? IT'S HIT THE POST, WE'RE OUT OF THE FINALS... IT'S IN!!! IT'S IN! WE'RE IN!

Oh, I'm sorry, darling. Everything's fine. Let's put you back to bed.

(I hope it was a wonderful experience for you people lucky enough to be there. The roar for each of Walsh's goals was like nothing I have heard.)
What a Post😍
