Oh god please don't let our only premiership be tainted with something awful.....

Surely it couldn't be any worse than Baldock holding up the premiership cup wearing a Collingwood jumper.

Bringing the game into disrepute?

A bit harsh on Doc, he was a big factor in us winning that cup which is really all that counts, him wearing a Collingwood jumper was just a minor blemish

AFL won't do shit to it regardless.

Eagles have flags when half the team was off their face on white powder and Benny was in his underpants running away from uniformed people to be a pinnacle of how not to be a **** up for the Tigers to go "oh, so we don't set fire to things when angry? I get it now!".

Cats still have theirs despite Chappy having a banned procedure 2 weeks afterwards and their coach also being on performance enhancing gigs whilst a right goal post deflection continues to be erroneously marked in all it's glory. Nothing suss here at all in AFL land.

Pies still have theirs whilst the undesierables such as bikie groups, murders and co cavort with them on business ventures. AFL gives no shits.

Short of our blokes leaving the park and immediately murdering as many people who attended as possible is stripping that cup from us, hell, we could have even pissed in it and given golden showers to anyone that asked and it still would be ours. AFL gives no shits.

Air I fully understand what you are saying but on the weekend he won 49 hit outs and really we had nothing coming from them , the guy is competing amongst the best of them but we don't have that dominator to make the point of difference and once we put in a Owens or Windwager who can win there own ball and break tackles he is not going to show up like we want.
Steele is a shadow of his former self , Ross needs everything to go his way and Crouch is just a hard toiler.
Clark is just to slow for todays game and in saying that if we are winning the center clearances he comes into his own but if we don't he just not quick enough to cover the player running off him.
Guys like Hill need to be fed the ball and we just don't have that atm.
To me Marshall is the least of our worries and the selectors will have to work out the problem but they just can't keep running with the same set up because it is not working against the better midfields.

The coaches a smarter than me so hopefully the work out the right balance.
Our mids had a shocker against Adelaide. We need at least 1 in the mix with explosive pace in my view - Windy or Gresh the most likely at the moment. They're both quick on their feet and agile. Don't know if they're carrying something as well. Ross hasn't been looking like he is moving very well and Steele probably should have been rested until fully fit. They've been more bad than good - hopefully they bring it Sunday!!
Edit, was meant to say more good than bad this year lol

Wasn't it the norm back in those days? If we'd won again in 67 or 97, no one would care.

It was yes, a show of respect between sides.

'97 we really needed someone to start a melee and have someone deck Shane Ellen.

Yeah it was the norm back then for players to swap jumpers with their opponents so you can't hold that against Doc, they all did it back then.

Some Saints fan with photoshopping skills righted that wrong though and put a Saints jumper on him.

A shame we couldn't win another premiership back in 2009 or 2010 before the great man passed away.

Was lucky enough to be at that match sim. I posted here at the time that this Caminiti whom none of us had ever heard of was taking speccies and really great contested marks but more impressive was his field play, looked a natural footballer.
As Iknow SFA about footy, just a mug punter, I wasn't effusive as I had seen plenty of March champions, but knew he would get signed, no forwards because of injury and a kid with promise, if he fills in for a year, all good.
Has shown, IMHO, he would go as a FRDP if the draft was done in hindsight.
Just reward is a 3 year contract, should have gotten a bonus for putting that Murphy softc0ck on his arse.

Josh eyre hamstring was a blessing in disguise

Thanks for that. Very kind of you to follow that up.

One of the kids at my kid's primary school was a grandkid of Brian and I heard the story of how a knee in those days cost your career. He sounded like he was on track to be one of the club greats before the knee. Won a Brownlow, captain of the Saints, did a knee at 22 and never payed again. That's absolutely brutal.

It looks like it could be legit just circumstantially. Having two with the double "e" spelling around the same time is pretty unusual.
G'day Gringo
I've managed to verify the family connection of 1950s Saints players Brian and Bill Gleeson. They are indeed paternal first cousins.
Their common ancestors were their paternal Grandparents James Gleeson and Mary Long.
Brian also had a slightly elder brother Gerald, who was known as 'Terry' Gleeson, who played as a Ruckman for Melbourne and was 19th or 20th man in three of Melbourne Grand Finals.
It took a bit of investigating, as I needed to identify and follow clues to piece the lines together.
Fortunately this stuff falls well in my wheelhouse.
I'll keep other family member names to myself for privacy reasons, but might chat to Georgie at the club to see if they would like the details.
Let's Go Saints.
Cheers for now

Thanks, you're a legend.

Jake, Joycey and Marshy review a tough win against the GWS Giants, Max King making a thrilling return with 4 goals. Best wishes also go out to Mitch Owens who suffered a serious head injury.

Gilbert had some moves, I had forgotten how good he was. I saw Dan Sultan posted that Gilbert was his uncle and pretty sure he was suggesting a blood uncle not an elder. That's actually very cool that he played at our 150th for that reason.

Under 9's stuff, Fev's not very bright. Couldn't spell his own name until he was 11
Family member George or just been told that from a friend of a friends Aunty? 🤣
