Ryder was a star but ultimately it was all for nothing. One finals win and we’re in the exact same position we were in before he got here, only difference is Marshall’s development was pushed back.
I think training with Paddy helped him.

Possibly but I’m not seeing much difference to the last time he was our #1 ruck. He’s a gun but was always going to be. Like Diehard Saint said he was a sugar hit.

I love Ro but he’s ineffective at centre bounces..he needs support!
Collingwood are the best centre clearance team so far this year and they’ve had CHB’s and half forwards in the ruck. It’s not all on the ruckman.

Rough day at the office. Still optimistic we can bounce back, but plenty of changes have to be made.

If you like these vids and feel like chipping in, here's a link: BiggerThompa is creating memes about THE MIGHTY SAINTZ

Thank you for your service mate. These genuinely make me so happy I’ve been thinking the saints are the perfect club to have that “essington” style lowlights video for ages. Will chip in a bit when I get paid.

A good article on Jack Steele's view of RTB and last weekends game.

Hey Sainters, at around 7:30 PM tonight Max and Jordan will be joined by Kosi for a chat so if you're interested you're welcome to tune in to the live from the below link! Thanks.

Yeah great memes.

If you participate and post in the forum instead of only promoting your work in the media thread you might get people actually chipping in.
I'm not a super online person, just looking to have a bit of fun. Celebrate the wins and have a laugh when we are crap, like this last week. No-one has to pay anything if they don't want to :)

Perfect new role for Matt Finnis

Marshall is getting no credit for his ruck work , it is not his fault our midfielders are getting found out.
Just look at stoppage clearances he is rated 7th , the only ruckman in the top 25 , the rest are all mids.
Why is it he can get stoppage clearances and our mids can't - that's the problem there - our next best is Crouch 25th.
The guy has been carrying our under achieving midfield , time to add some new blood.
Marshall has developed in to a very good ruckman but if the mids don't read the ball , it isn't his fault.
Steele is a shadow of himself , Clark is just to slow and Ross is the midfielder when you have no one else.
Time for , Owens , Windhager and Crouch to be our nucleus with Sinclair and Gresham rotating - of course when Steele is full fit he comes straight back in.

For some reason our mids have gone from being offensive at stoppages, to all being completely reactive. Steele coming back and playing well beyond his best has effected to midfield balance.

Ultimately it’s the same midfield that has had us mid table for a while now. Ross probably thinks he can get them to another level and to be fair they have been good but I think it’s more likely we need one or two different names in there to get anywhere meaningful.

Last year it was the terrible forward 50 structures and single forward target that cost us finals along with some awful transition and a bit of a lazy attitude towards defending the field putting the defence under pressure.

The outside players are our issue. Hill, DMac, Byrnes, Nas, Billings, Clark, Coffield, Wood and Sinclair. All play as wings, rebound backs or high running half forwards.

Injury and form has been against us and we have been trying to develop those players so are playing kids in the roles. Apart from Wood and Sinclair most are patchy or injured. Hill after an amazing start to the year seems to have gone back to cruise mode and the injury to Wood has taken him from absolute elite quality in the first few rounds to a good player. Sinclair is not as dominant as last year either.

Moving Gresh to a more permanent forward role, losing Jones and the injury to Steele has taken a bit of our edge off. Clark is good but slow and struggles to spread or chase. while playing limited minutes on ball. Ross has dropped off from a great start to the year as well. Marshall has been dominant but playing sore now too.

It would be worth developing depth in the midfield but the midfield set up is adequate IMO. You need depth to cover injury though.

Degoey would have been quite handy. I still think that Windhager, Phillipou and Owens can make our midfield better but it’s going to be a couple of years before that happens.

Marshall rips the ball out of the ruck and jams it on the boot a lot, which is how he gets high clearance numbers and it will also take away some clearance opportunities for our mids. My view - it's good for his stats, but often doesn't work out well for us as on the eye I think at least 50% end up coming back with interest.
