I feel like I’m nowhere near as emotionally invested in VFL victories as AFL - so view the games perhaps more objectively.

That umpiring was outrageous. I can see why our boys were giving away 50’s for abuse - getting some decisions wrong is inevitable, but that just didn’t feel like the umpires were impartial.

Two completely different standards of umpiring for both sides there, so **** logic.

WE WON OUR SECOND GAME OF THE YEAR LETS ******* GOOOOOO

No one really stood out in terms of complete performances but many had their moments. I thought McAndrew's tapwork was superb giving our mids first use, and Stephens' reading of said taps equally impressive. Gould had some sublime kicks out of defence. Magor had some really classy moments (including that awesome snap off the outside of his boot). Rankin was hard as nails after a mare of a first quarter. And Hall-Kahan had some important plays.

WHAT A WIN!!

Seriously should have sung the song out on the ground to make the point.

I'm normally one to cut the Umpires some slack. My 13yo son is one and indeed I encouraged him to take it up so he could develop some empathy for what they go through.

But that was disgusting. At best, it was subconscious bias. At worse, they were out and out cheating.

Where do most the umpires come from? If it's Victoria, perhaps they are just biased against us (and the other interstate teams) regardless of whether it's VFL, AFL or AFLW.

Neither West Coast nor Adelaide get such a rough deal so often though (unsure about the QLD teams). The bias seems specifically aimed against us and GWS. It looks to be an anti-NSW thing, whether subconscious or otherwise.

Living up here in bne, I can vouch for the Lions getting dudded at times when playing Victorian sides. I feel the umpires are more 50/50 when they play us.

Bazball mindset

On a side note, saw Roberts doing laps of Tramway Oval yesterday afternoon with Wicks, so could be one to come in next week against Richmond?
I doubt it, I think he's only now being integrated with the rest of the team for training. Original estimate was 8-10 weeks and we've just hit week 8, suspect he'll need to build up his match fitness with games in the VFL when he comes back.

This being the VFL thread I assume he meant back against Richmond VFL

Finally got around to watching the ressies v Geelong.

Fair few 'fringe' players out of contract at the end of the year, but one I really hope we retain is Magor.
Came to us as a fwd/mid, but Truslove has been playing him down back, I assume because our fwd line was a dead zone earlier in the season and giving him an opportunity to get into the game and utilize his skills.
Good to see him get some mid/wing minutes this match and I thought took his opportunities drifting fwd as well.
Hope we get to see a few more fwd minutes from him in the weeks ahead.

Another guy out of contract at season's end is McAndrew.
I assume we'll extend him. Noticeable he was a key component in our 4Q fightback.

Arnold/Edwards was an interesting comparison.
Arnold is a good ball user, but I thought Edwards was better defensively.

We are unlikely to have many free spots.
Gould surely is gone.
Rankin bad 1Q, good 4Q. HKK came into the game.
They need to be putting 4Qs together at this stage of their career.
Cam Owen is interesting. He seemed to get more ruck time and generally be a bit more up and about v Geelong, but how many ruck prospects can we carry if we are considering adding May?

Looking forward to today's game.
