VFL 2023 Swans Reserves

Watched the first half. A few of my thoughts:

1) We are terrible at our set shots at goal.

2) We make stupid errors constantly, gifting ball back to the opposition. Gould, Rankin and McCartin amongst the culprits which is poor as they should be better.

3) Stephens should be dominating at this level but just looks serviceable.

4) Umpiring is bordering on corruption. Even at VFL level we get dumped. That last goal was shocking - Neale had clearly played on. HTB against McGaw almost as bad, along with a whole host of supposed high contacts.

5) I like Buller. He has had a very good start to his career as an AFL listed player. Arnold quiet. In fact all our tall defenders, other than Edwards have been soundly beaten by Neale and the debutante Sheahan.

We have had good patches of play. Most have involved Warner who is developing nicely. He's got a good turn of pace and I can see him challenging regularly for an AFL spot soon.

Owen will be fine.

Disposal errors and some ump errors have cost a lot.

Best I've seen Owen play but he is a terrible set shot. I think his best chance moving forward is as a ruck who rests forward, not the other way round.

These umps can get ****ed. Clear HTB. Not paid then plucks some soft a shit free. Then pays 50 for arguing. Honestly someone needs to deck these campaigners.

Yeah audio is barely there, until an ad deafens you.

Honestly there were times where picked up the ball, were tackled immediately and got pinged yet we they ran 5 were tackled, didn’t dispose correctly and were called play on. How does this inconsistency happen at both AFL and VFL level consistently and the club does nothing??

His draft write-ups were as a project ruck, who might develop up forward a bit.

Not a main ruck yet even at this level, with McAndrew in the way anyway, so has to go up front a bit.

There were two frees there and the fifty where almost every swans player in the vicinity was just lifting their arms in disbelief

Just with respect to Stephens he is clearly head and shoulders above the rest of the midfield in this team on this showing. I like your boy rankin he’s pretty accountable
