I'm sure that Bard wouldn't have too much trouble figuring it out for himself, but keep feeding that beast Ralphy.

Once the compensation is announced Ralph will just go into articles complaining about North getting overs and the system needing to be fixed.

I don't know where you got from that tweet that we weren't interested. It simply stated that Hawthorn's interest was far stronger, which means they have agreed to at least 4 years on ridiculous coin for a bloke who is running around in the VFL.

And we apparently only offered two

Sound logic by Dodo and the Bombers.

Don't offer a contract that will push Pick 8 back, in which North will then match, then demand Pick 8.

Net loss of a R1 pick instead of 1 pick position.

All for $20k-$50k per year in a TPP they have mountains of space in.

There's no scenario in which North couldn't match the financial deal put up by Essendon, we have even more cap space than they do.

Whats the odds that happens, we match the bid and mckay ends up staying?

Essendon reckon they can wedge us and pay two seconds for him a la Ben Brown.

Lucky Agent Kane ain't having none of that.

I'd be so p155ed with North if next year we were trying to lure a FA & started playing games with the contract offer thus jeopardising our first pick. FFS it's a free hit, just take it & run.

The deal with McKay would be set. The rest is media jive talk.

The honest answer Taz is Reid is all that and we want him but don’t have access to him.

The thing with having the first pick and access to the best player is of course the trade needs favour you. I don’t really understand why that seems alien to people.

Of course, if we decide we can bypass Reid then we have a good hand either way.
I wonder how much of this is North and how much of this is the Reid camp begging us to do what we can so he stays in Melbourne lol
West Coast needs 2 to secure Curtin. But for pick 1 they will want more than just a swap of future picks. Its at this point we just walk away from the table.

McKay leaving and Logues injury immediately screams to me that we need to take Curtin with McKays compo pick and back in Clarko and Viney to keep him here. Its borderline negligent list management if we prioritise all mids again with us having Larkey, Logue on one leg and literally no other established key position footballers.
Reid is the 1st picked, but he's a soft standout number 1 IMO. Nice to have but not a must have.
Its not the end of the world if we don't nab him.

Reckon it's the end of the world if we pick Curtin.... he shouldn't be a top 5 pick

So Ralph has been fed a bunch of BS I think. He was wrong on Goldstein to the Pies and will most likely be wrong on the compo.
Essendon need McKay with BZT leaving and cant risk us matching. Pick 3 is on its way.
