Today he writes that they might not achieve band 1. Tomorrow he writes about how Clarko said that we will only accept Band 1. Next day he writes what a trade would look like if we matched them. The day after that he writes it’s more likely than not that we achieve band 1.

I could be wrong but this creates a lot of content and keeps Ralph’s in a job.

I think everyone needs to calm down.....all these articles stating this and that, is just speculation to get clicks. As both WCE and NM showed last year, they are willing to sit down in good faith so everyone gets what they want, in a reasonable fashion. We wont want the easgles to get screwed and they wont want us to. I am guessing that to help their rebuild, they will be looking to get at least a couple of shots at the first round, with the number of them depending how high they are, and we would like to get Reid. If it can't be worked out, they will take Reid and we will take our picks.

This nonsense of them just taking Curtain at 1 is nonsense, and wont happen. We either trade up to 1 and get Ried or we pick from the rest.

Assuming North get 3 as compo for McKay

North give: 2, 19, F19, F20
North get: 1, 20

GC give: 5
GC get: 19, F19, F20, no bids on Walter with first three picks

Eagles give: 1, 20
Eagles get: 2, 5

I can't see that happening. North and WC to combine later picks to snare GC pick 4(5).

And then only if North get Pick 3 compo for McKay will this scenario work.

North will keep 3 as we will be using more collateral than WC to help snare the GC pick.

West Coast get McKercher and Sanders. Midfield rebuild well on the way for them with 4 first round mids picked in 2 years. Would make sense for them to keep the two Tassie kids together. All seems too good to be true.

As I’ve said, North matching is not what North, Essendon, McKay or McKay’s Manager want.

The media on the other hand would love it as it would cause a lot of interest/discussions.

Don’t think that’s likely because GC wouldn’t do it. Why would they if they are getting 10, 17 and F1 from the dogs.

In that scenario we can just trade 2, 19, F19 and F20 to Eagles for 1 and 20 so we don't need to be involved with their trade with GC.

That would be two end of first round picks plus downgrading 19 to 20 to move from 2 to 1. It seems steep but it isn't the worst trade proposed.

I think we are also in talks with GC for pick 4, for their pick 4/5 so it might be an issue involving them in a trade for 1.

Dunno, maybe just me but I think the sweet spot for upgrading 2 to 1 is somewhere between 1 of the future PP's and both of them. Just have to find the right way to do it and keep everyone happy.

Mirboo North High ….. not dux I have no faith in any town of gippsland these days. I went back to the mother land after we sold our farm over a decade ago, a decade between visits and its nothing how I remember it. Its sad, it really is, what from my memory and i’d say everyone elses memory, the place (latrobe valley) had so much going for it. Then once the privatisation of powerstations the first initial decline after, and farming absolutely dismantled by free trade. The joints ****ed. Based on current economic dispositions of the surrounding towns, Lowanna will be sub par state education.

And I doubt we’ll see an AFL player from that region for some time. Even though, in the day, Latrobe Valley was a red hot region for young footballers. We’ll see a few here n there but not to the level they were once were.

I don't want to get too conspiratorial, but maybe one of those future picks was given to us and we are just temporarily holding the other for our mates in Perth.
