It’s why the eagles might also see the Curtin kid slide, not cause he isn’t a top 2 talent but the hawks might be a little gun shy on another kpb from WA.

That's fair in its own right.
2 x EOFR are free and we have to sell.
If the eagles want to dance with someone else they'll risk losing their local kid to us, which belies the original intent to slide down to him.
If not, no bother, we'll take the 2nd best available kid and another 2 x top-20 kids instead.

I trust our team more these days but please.... just don't sell the farm.

I cant fathom how people don’t understand this. They’d all be sitting at a table saying “okay how do we facilitate a trade where you get x & y player, whilst we get a & b player”.

Sliding from 3 to 5 is completely irrelevant if we end up with Watson anyway.

It’s exactly what happened last year. Once people realised we were trading for Sheezel and Wardlaw, the melts cooled. Except with people that still think we traded 2xPick 1s for Pick 2&3, those people cannot be helped.

Unlike Bigfooty AFL clubs aren't as much into dick swinging shows of strength and actually discuss the shades of grey, rather than seeing black or white.

This is constantly overlooked... considering Curtin, mckercher, Watson and sanders are next 4... I'd say there is a massive gulf....

All the talk about bombers and saints working out how to get band 1 for Gresham. McKay band 1 in doubt.

It's why the "2 pick ones" traded out is nonsense.

In effect the the pick 1 to 2 I'd completely irrelevant as we still got our number 1 player.

So in essence it was pick 3 and 14 for JHF. That's fairly reasonable and would be poetic if 2 and 14 netted us pick 1 back. I suspect it might be 2 and 10 somehow, with Eagles 2nd rounder back to us

oh of course he does….goldy arriving in his books therefore means doubt about paying market value for a key back that they want…. Therefore north should act in kind and hand over Benny at a reduced rate….

Makes the most sense. Like it or not, WC need something decent for giving up Pick 1. It is different to last year imo, in that there's the clear No.1, similar to the JHF year.

Jon is the only journo that has been dropping breadcrumbs about this and IMO it’s purely for the click reaction. I mean Twomey is as clued in as anyone about Essendon and he said today he expects it to be Band 1.

Of course we will, if the difference for Essendon between us getting pick 3 is what we have all heard it to be $750k-$800k there is no way the Bombers would allow us to match a bid and then force a trade if McKay insists on leaving. To avoid paying an extra $50k per year.

Right now he isn’t costing them any pick they are making out like bandits.

Today he writes that they might not achieve band 1. Tomorrow he writes about how Clarko said that we will only accept Band 1. Next day he writes what a trade would look like if we matched them. The day after that he writes it’s more likely than not that we achieve band 1.

I could be wrong but this creates a lot of content and keeps Ralph’s in a job.
