His trading strategy is much like how I operated during my time at uni.

Procrastinate while everyone else gets their work done days/weeks in advance, start working on my major assessments hours prior to the deadline. Submit everything with minutes to spare and somehow get good results anyway despite being sleep deprived and fueled by red bull.

I think those are the rules at uni. Most every person I know did exactly the same thing.

Or that he’s making s**t up to suit his argument - pretty much nobody tipped them to make finals this year.
Nah Ned not making shit up I heard it on one of the shows I watch, but all good, I’ll cop that one. I will how ever stand by what I said about there list, I think they have a good list. I don’t however ( like I said in a previous post) think they are a good team and just on top off that I hate the Essendon football club as much as the next Hawks supporter and think they are a table of a club.

Because he's the most replaceable and least versatile of our deep midfield unit, and the club quite clearly wants Reid but would need to sacrifice someone to achieve this.
What I observed from this season is that Worpel was seemingly unleashed without having to play second fiddle to O'Meara or Mitchell.

He played with a bit of flair with flashes of the coaches' signature moves on display on a few occasions. Which indicates that he's teachable and that he listens. He's very much our grunt player along with Newk and Conor. He's one of the reasons why we started winning games toward the end of the season when our midfield was humming along nicely.

I think he has another gear in him. His kicking will be neater and won't get caught up as much when he learns to manage his timing. I think he could develop a deft touch as his confidence increases.

I, too was under the view of Worpel being the most disposable after the seasons he's had prior to this year. However, watching him play this year shows how valuable he is to the Hawks.

Worpel is a very underrated vital cog of our engine room. Watch him take a step up if he stays injury free in 2024.

I only see Worpel as traceable as I think 1/ He has value (should be a first round pick - preferably a young tall); and 2/ We could cover him.

Kind of how I see scrimshaw.

Sure, but if he was traded now who would pick up his slack? Nash and Newcombe can't do it by themselves.
Moore? Ward? CMAC? Huswaithe?

We would digress steeply in 2024 if we traded him for the sake of bringing in a tall. Robbing Peter to pay Paul and all that...

Ok yes but What if we get Smith does he go back in his shell like he did with Mitchell I say yes as he doesn’t have another role.

If Geelong do offer there first I think we should trade him if we end up getting Smith.

Interesting aside, is there actually anyone out there we'd consider a die-hard expert? Seems most are just ex players who've shifted into the media post football or journalists in the spotlight. Seems a secondary role for most.

Can't say there are too many genuine analysts in footy media. That Hoyne bloke from Champion Data gets a run every now and then, probably as close as there is.

Even experts find forecasting a challenge as there are so many unknown variables. A wise old economist told me many years ago, “ If you have to forecast, forecast often.” He went on to add “ make it nuanced and qualified, not absolute as that gives you a segue to your next forecast.”
Big Footy has abbreviated that to “ it’s fluid.”

Still wouldn't say he's an expert, but I reckon Richo is fairly astute with his commentary and player analysis.
On a side note, I'll cop flak for this, but I do enjoy listening to Kane Cornes purely because he has the balls to say what's on his mind whether it's popular or not. Yes he can be extreme and misguided, but I find him refreshing. A good example is a clip I saw yesterday where he spoke about clubs overvaluing average players who have requested a trade and the ridiculous compensation clubs are receiving for limited players (Ben McKay was obviously a key example) - he's analysis of some of the players discussed was brutal but also very accurate. I find most of the media personalities are spineless, and more or less regurgitate the same generic commentary or viewpoints, without really having an opinion because they're too scared to offend. Brad Johnson is a good example - he's a nothing commentator. The ultimate fence sitter.

If you laid all the economists in the world end to end, they still wouldn't reach a conclusion.

Dumb question, but I forget each year.

Can trades get lodged over the weekend
He'll wake up Wednesday and all of his trades will be lodged after 5pm Wednesday. How he rolls.
Do those in the know expect our hunt for pick one to be over if we don’t land it by Wednesday??
We really need a player involved to get it over the line, whereas Shinbeggars can trade picks up to and on draft night.. Probably why Norf are in no rush and putting forward laughable offers, it’s them or eagles after trade deadline unless another club lands significant draft capital in the form of picks..

WEST Coast has offered Hawthorn pick 44 in exchange for out of contract small forward Tyler Brockman, but the Hawks are chasing more to trade him.

Would we take
44 & 58 = 532 pts

It’s enough
Chol and D’Ambrosio trades should also have been wrapped by now.
Hopefully the Hawks work over the weekend to get all of these trades done and file the paperwork Monday. I really don’t want to see these names in trade discussions on Wednesday.

Can only think we must be pushing the Eagles for F3 instead of 44.. heard it reported a couple of times the Chol deal is close.. that must mean it's our F3 as the main piece.. You'd think we get something around that mark for Kozi and move on.. Massimo will be done for a late pick and you'd hope Gunston is a swap of F4's.. Hopefully we can get the points we need for F/S from 33+54 so i like the play of turning Brocky/ Kozi into future assets..
