I would think the strategy maybe to trade out certain players eg. Gresham, Paton, Clark then bundle those picks for gold coasts first!
You would want to be sure you could get that pick before you trade the players. I’d imagine just about every club will be after that pick. It won’t come easy.

Great. Now we just need to learn what plan B is after all those players are traded out and Gold Coast have much more attractive offers from other clubs which include first rounders or future picks.

Geez we really do overrate some of our players as supporters. I agree with other posters we would be best served to cut our losses with Clarke and Coffield, for picks 6 and 7 they have been disappointing to say the least.
What pick players were drafted at 6 years ago is no longer relevant.
Clark’s worth around pick 25-30, Coffield..can’t put a figure on due to lack of output!

what's peoples thoughts on this? personally i don't think there's anything we can do with Clark with two way running like this. the guy looks absoluely gassed and he hasn't even played a qtr, everyone else on the field has played near on 4. if richnmond didnt fumble that ball its a certain goal purely because he cant run with a guy.

Gawn

Howard has very good trade value Sydney sniffing around.
I disagree on him having very good trade value. Other clubs would watch him, we aren’t fooling anyone.

If he was valued highly, we wouldn’t be willing to part with him, not when we have been screaming out for a big key position defender for 10 years.

This topic needs its own thread, but since our clubs affiliation with Sandringham in 2009 (14 years) they have played finals in 4 of those years. Their best result was a prelim loss. Surely if the club wants to be serious about player development they need to inject $$$ into Sandringham to ensure they are competitive or go it alone. Even when the Saints were going well in 2009-2011 the Zebras didn't make finals. I understand the Saints AFL side hasn't been that great in the years following, but surely the club recognises they need to address the missed development opportunities for our players not playing VFL finals year after year?
Agree 100% but we still have a huge debt hanging over our heads & Sandy are virtually broke!

Both have had ACL's.

Like to see the list of injuries which he has had.

Seem pretty similar to me.
Ah sorry your right, jeez he had a bad run. ACL, Knee Clean out, Hamstring, Shoulder. But yes didn't ever actually play a game, but was another one of our great hopes that didn't make it

Plus he was on the list for 3 years and couldn't get on the park

I think because when you watch them as very biased spectators in a stressful scenario, then every little mistake is magnified. And when you notice a mistake or two, then the next ones are amplified even more. If we were to do it, then this would seem to be peak time given almost desperation for some teams to grab one.

Reminds me a bit of Daniel Markworth. A heck of a talent but we just couldn't get him on the park.

Sometimes it may be better to move on and give someone else the chance and resources of the club.

We don't know his status with his injuries, only the club knows that.
I would be staggered if he's not playing with us next year.
He is 23 and a top 10 draft pick.
Plenty players come back from an ACL as good as new. He's too young to have the old man's recurring calf issues, so hopefully that's a one-off injury which does happen after ACL's. Max had a hamstring if I recall correctly.

We will not be throwing out the baby with the bathwater. I reckon we will give him 2 years.

I think our new recruitment team will be looking at all avenues to bring in midfield talent.

Coffield just seems to be surplus to our needs at the moment. Even when he gets fit again, he will have to fight his way back into the team.

People whinge about Clark's body and his lack of size, well the opposite is the case with Coffield, really has some size and a very nice V shape.
Many will be surprised with his size when they next see him.
The moaning about losing Acres will pale compared to if we lose Coff and we see him tearing it up in non Saints colours.

Please don’t abuse the s$&t out of me but if members leaves would Ben Brown be worth 1 year or two to help max ??

Okay, but I will politely ask you to go sit on the toilet and get rid of it yourself.

As they say, if it’s Brown, flush it down

He was good a couple of years ago and has gone backwards. Tall KPBs are always hard to come by so will have a value but McKay being available for wages only makes it more of a buyers market. Someone probably puts up a second round pick for him. If Ross isn't a fan it might be best for both to part ways. The issue for me is that they are hard to find so we may end up paying more to move sideways than we get for him in a trade.

That all sounds a bit hyperbolic but I can't see the sense in losing him. He's worth FA so might as well hold on to him and hope that he can get his body right. He'd be lucky to get a third round pick in a shallow draft. Good chance that's the same as de-listing him.
