Pretty poor effort all round by the reserves. Didn't seem to have any idea how to play windy football, constantly out marked due to not judging the flight and being caught on the wrong side of the contest. So many players having little to no impact on the game, must be a concern for the list management team. Guys like Sharp, Coleman, Smith, Lane and Tunstil with two to three years on the list and even more annoyingly Cocky, Madden and Ah Chee doing little to push for selection. I said it last week and again today, without Matho and Dev we are a second rate VFL team. Matho just dominates games and Dev tackles himself to a standstill each week.

I don’t know why they continue to go wide too. Just need to go long and direct and compete in the air

We didn’t even deserve to draw that game

That sounds more of an emotional call than a rational one.

I think if you have 5 more scoring shots than your opponent, you are worthy of a draw at least.

Didn't watch it at all after the first quarter, my feed quality was shocking so I gave up.

For those who viewed it who were our best, particularly interested to know how Sharp, Madden and our 2 young rucks went?

Rucks soundly beaten. Madden had some big moments late. Sharp got a fair bit of it (apparently), but I can't think of anything he did that caught my eye.

Being a Melbourne based supporter I was fortunate to be able to go to the game. I was hoping to meet some of the senior players but unfortunately they were already on a plane bound for Brisbane. The game was not a great spectacle and as you would expect but some of our senior players stood up when it counted. The wind played a big part in the quality of the game simply because it was blowing a gale to one side of the ground. This made it difficult to pinpoint kicks and even to keep balance when in posession of the 🏈 ball. The wind gave a side around a 4 to 6 goal advantage depending on whether you kicked straight. Fullarton was taken off the ground and to me didn’t look injured so maybe he will play in the 1sts on Thursday night? Lyon got his usual number of posessions but was not as impactful as he normally is. To me the lions did not have any player that stood out. Ainsworth looked a class above, Cockatoo took a great contested mark and kicked a goal and Ah Chee came good in the last quarter when we needed him. They obviously missed the players that are now playing in the 1sts including Mathieson . We have around 1/2 dozen players missing from our best reserves team so please do not be too harsh on the results we still have around half a season to go.

I wondered what happened to Fullarton.
Nice to know most likely not injured.

Seems to be a tactic to absorb the tackle and then dish off if possible. Problem is it only works if the opposition is as bad at tackling as we are.
Missed the VFL game yesterday but this certainly seemed one aspect of a tactic in the AFL game on Friday night. I'll elaborate more in the review thread.

I would like this very much.
Me too.
Just want to see how the AFL team goes with Fullarton as mainly forward with some ruck relief.
Compared to Fort coming in to replace Gunston and being used in the ruck.

Fort did not get much ruck time last week except for the 3rd quarter.
