Now I don't know how to rationalise Gujarat's poor selection decisions... Rachael Haynes in her post-match presser clearly implied, imo, that she wasn't responsible for Sophia Dunkley being left out of last night's XI (and was obviously pissed off about it).

You know your batting lineup is in trouble when Wareham is coming in at 6 and Kim Garth is coming in at 8 (who top scored last night for Gujarat). Pretty sure I remember Garth was batting at 11 or so in the WBBL.

Yeah you made a similar erroneous comment about Garth's batting ability during the Pakistan series, to which I replied:
Not even close.

For other reasons, I pointed out in the WC thread that Garth is one of only six players to average 35+ against Australia in T20Is.

Also, she showed last night that she IS a good player to have at no.8. Idk how anybody can look at that team's innings and identify her as the problem.

But yes, Garth did bat at 11 a couple times in the WBBL... in 2017. She's batted 25 times since then, as high as 3 and never lower than 7 in her 2 seasons at the Stars. 17 innings at no.5.

Wareham at 6 would be ok if they had the consistency of Mooney at the top. But they don't, so the choice should be Dunkley + Gardner + Sutherland/Wolvaardt as the overseas players in the top 6.

Sorry but Im yet to be sold on Garths batting.

Look at the strike rate, which is poor in that format of the game.Think averages might not be a good number to be looking at considering there are quite a number of not outs in that lot.

Meanwhile the team they lost to had Betty Snowball and Wilkie Wilkinson at 7 and 8...

Im just speaking generally, that Gujarat dont have much batting depth from 6 onwards and overall are a poor batting team from the middle down to 11 compared to a few other sides.

Yeah if they pick Sutherland rather than Wareham, it gives them a mid-to-late batting order that's about average. Not as strong as a few teams, but stronger than a few others (such as Delhi). Well said.

1st v 3rd in the WPL tonight in Game 10

Ive overestimated Deepti Sharmas capability with the bat. Always had this in the back of my mind she was a big and reliable hitter.

Her career strike rate in all T20 forms is only 106.73% , and only hit 7 sixes from 135 games or so.

And with that UPWarriorz post 159/6 against Mumbai. Think UPW left a good 25-35 runs out there. Mumbai should chase this down with their depth.

Last nights game went a bit expected after the departure of Healy and McGrath. Both failed to capitalise and accelerate after their good starts.

I think going on from here the UpWarriorz need to be playing Grace Harris over Ismail especially on the wickets at Brabourne. Ismail looking at the scoreboard last night was largely ineffective last night.

Healy even admitted in post-conference last night , they were a batter short.

But back on the batting of Deepti, I may have been swayed by an innings in the past where she clobbered a bowling line up in one of he rare good performances or bought into the hype from the commentators about her ability with the handle. I think after mankad I paid more attention to her. But one thing is clear
, She is more threatening with ball than with the bat.
