Not even for a nanosecond

We're desperate to use our own F1 to get back into this year, which shows you how much we want to be in this draft. No way we'd ever consider trading pick 8 for a future pick alone - maybe a future pick with a slide, but never pick 8 for just a future selection.

Honestly given how desperate we are for top end talent we would probably reject any F1 offer we got for pick 8 with the exception of Richmond's F1 (which they would never offer anyway)

But you said yourself you need top end talent. Which is top 5. Unless you are planning finishing bottom 4 next year then Eagles F1 is your only chance of getting a top 5 talent in the door.

There is every chance pick 8 (which will be pick 10) isnt that good. Its no certainty.

Surely 2025 pick 2 is a better prospect than 2024 pick 10?

Probably looks like it now but if I was a North supporter, I would be praying that the club can find a way to get back into the first round this year to improve their KPP stocks otherwise it's going to be another long 12 months.

Will need to change my phantom draft before Thursday night then as I had originally Taura (Pick 2) to North Melbourne, Draper (Pick 4) to Carlton, Smith (Pick 5) to Adelaide but looks like Jagga has had interest from Carlton now and will be a Neale 2.0 for them in their midfield mix.

Going to be interesting to see if Melbourne now select Taura now or Langford still with Pick 6 though with Richmond a serious chance for Taura if still available while they more likely select Smilie over Langford if the vice versa occurs IMO.

Ahh yes, because that 18 year old tall will change the sides fortunes completely for 2025?

Would still be a mistake to choose another midfielder unless they can trade back into the first round again.

It's not ideal but surely North Melbourne should consider the possibility of trading their Pick 2 into multiple first rounders and try to select a KPP stock with that second selection at the very least to combat their lack of development in the D/F50s.

Can be possible that Richmond is interested with O'Sullivan or Smith with Pick 2 alongside Lalor and that could be traded for Pick 10 and 18 (or even 21) perhaps back to North Melbourne so they can trade in some decent players that fills more their needs such as Armstrong, Trainor, Shanahan, Travaglia, Berry, M/J Whitlock or Allen, just to name a few.

Why do we have a lack of development in our D50's?

KPD's are not a priority. We took 1 in the first round last year and Charlie Comben and Mac Andrew are the only two u/23 KPD's anywhere near the top of the league in intercept marks.

Comben and Xerri's years changed our tall requirements considerably.

Im sure we'd love a Jed Walter, but there isn't one in this draft and every time we have had an opportunity to get one, they have been compromised (Walter, Darcy, JUH etc)

You've just put an arbitrary number that top talent = top 5. I don't agree, especially with how stacked this draft is (and also because everyone says we're bottom 4 next year anywhere, so there's your other top 5 talent).

We have the chance to grab an excellent player with pick 8 and put an extra year into their development. There's no incentive to trade out (especially where its not guaranteed - Eagles might move up a bit, and with the compromised draft next year we might be trading pick 10 in 2024 for pick 11 in 2025). Your argument re: pick 8 is the same as the Eagles pick next year that you're advocating we trade for - no certainty that they are a good player.

It's not the numbers it's the high end talent that is developed basically in the Victorian pathways that no other teams have access to.
What high end talent where?

Surely you’re not getting your nose out of joint about the Ashcroft’s as they are father sons.

So we’ve had one kid, who’s projected as an end of first round prospect.

And you’re upset 😂

No I'm saying Eagles will almost certainly be bottom in 2025.

Is 3 the same as 8 (10)?

Ita a clear upgrade on paper.

Feels like it a bit but maybe it's because no one knows who the clear number 1 is compared to past editions and it's quite an even draft from the Top 20 as well:

Did have an educated guess of what the Top 40 would be providing draft picks don't get traded from now on but didn't know where to post it exactly so hopefully this is the right place to do so:
