You want Cody picked before our 1st so we don’t match & get someone better ?

Yet if he weren’t picked before our 1st, we’d get who we want with that pick & get Cody for junk picks later.

I always find it difficult with NGAs and the like where you hope we get them for nothing, but at the same time that would require no one to bid on them - which often gives the sense they aren’t rated highly.

I haven’t seen enough good reasoning in this thread to think we won’t be drafting another defender.

But with our current pick it’s hard not to like Sims

Although I’d like us to take a key forward I like Ough, and he’s a December kid so he’s 7-11 months behind most of those ahead of him.

Significant as 17-18yo’s development, and especially telling given he had a spike in performances late in the season.

Given how open McKenzie was about looking at trading up I expect we will on draft night so picking a player at this pick may be a moot point. More curious who we have identified as being worth trading up for, nobody saw Weddle coming.

 

[Soaring Hawk]

Angus Clarke looks a likely type. Versatile in the front and back half. Elite runner. Good overhead. Seems like a great kick.

AFL.com mentioned our interest a few days ago. Any views? I like him at 33, if we have it still.

I’m not saying we should pick him either.

I just find it to be a ridiculous comment to say “I hope he’s picked before our pick”

If he’s picked before our pick then we decide if he’s worth matching or not.

If he’s not picked, we get who we want at 33, if we keep the pick, & decide if we use pick 70 odd on matching or take someone else.

He may or may not get picked up but some ‘experts’ are suggesting he’ll go around 30-40

Davis, Barrat, Gerryn, Charlie West etc still on board.. Not sure we will pick Ough in that case.

Murphy Reid at 20 and Luke Trainor at 29 is insane. Surely GWS pick Trainor > Mraz at 19.

Yep - one of his friends said that he would have more clarity this week as to whether Hawthorn would nominate him as a Next Generation Academy player. Club spoke to him in the last 48 hours to recommit their interest in taking him in the draft if he is available.
