clearly the club sees something in Anderson that his highlights don't quite capture.
I rate mm and his team very highly, so happy to go with that.
His one game at Box Hill this year was eye catching enough to suggest he could be a player. Didn’t look out of place against the older and more mature bodies.

He seems to have a nice mix of burst speed and hardness around the ball. If the Hawks can pick him up after our pick 33 I think the club would be happy with that

I'd love nothing more than for his skills to improve and match his tenacity + explosive athleticism.
That would make him an elite prospect.

I need convincing...
Perhaps more footage will emerge.

Murphy Reid - Breust replacement.
He's got the same running style, the incredible ability to do something constructive with every touch, good running capacity, and he hits targets inside 50.

If he does drop to 18-20 like a recent prediction (others have him easily top 10), we should strongly consider a move for him.

As it turns out, Hotton and Reid are both projected as high as top 10, and low as 18-19.
Both would be perfect for us IMO.

Not sure why some posters are so negative on Anderson based mainly on his kicking skills. Fact is, he is a competitive beast with elite speed. We don't need him to have Sam Mitchells kicking skills with those two key attributes. Just needs to tidy up his disposal as Worpel did and we may have something really special here

As mentioned by another poster, Brad Sewell did a ton of work to fix his disposal to become an elite contested midfielder. Sewell had a big tank but average speed yet still managed to excel as a in and under midfielder. From what I have seen of Anderson, he has far more penetration in his kicking than Sewell and al ot more speed so i'm pretty bullish on him going forward

Just get the feeling that the club knew all year what they had but have played him down brilliantly. Very similar to Calsher Dear last year, not much said about him by the club pre draft. There is definately something about him...

He's been played down/ hidden.

Anything like Bailey Smith*, with elite speed & spread, but questionable disposal?

*not that I think Smith's kicking is diabolical but it's definitely not his strength.
*I don't consider Smith a 'competitive beast', either. Just trying to get a comparison.

It's mostly me, but i was also the one to highlight Sewell's improvement.
There are obviously caveats to my opinion.
Limited highlights being the main one, and trust in the club's judgement overrides anything I say here.

Anderson does have exceptional athleticism and brings the kind of fanatic pressure that makes me curious to see what hed be like as a pressure forward. If he can commit to that role like Puopolo did, I can see him excelling.

Otherwise, kicking is awful.
People go on about Finn Maguinness, but he is technically proficient and not actually a bad kick in most situations.
If Finn can't get a game with HIS superior athleticism and proven senior performances, Anderson is going to have a tough job becoming a senior player at Hawthorn.

In addition to his kicking, Anderson's first touch and general ball handling is terrible.
Rookie list.

The quality of KP forwards in this draft has been underplayed IMO.
There are 4-5 good sized, athletic prospects who take strong marks.

Sims has been mentioned.
Gerryn is decent.
But Shanahan is the one I would love.
He looks ready to go and would slot right into out forward line.

Most will prob go between picks 15 to about 45, so we should have the chance to take one.

Finn has great endurance , that is the only thing he would have over anderson. I'd bet anderson beats him in every other form of testing. It is unusual how highly critical you are of him considering he will be added to the list for nothing .

I feel Anderson goes harder at the contest than Finn.

Cody seems to be able to find the goals as well. I feel the club has been working with Cody on kicking skills. He was at the club for his rehab.

Maybe Maginness (who can find the goals) and Anderson could fill Gunston and Bruest role in 2026.
