1 - Harry Armstrong
2 - Jobe Shanahan
3 - Jack Whitlock
4 - Matt Whitlock
5 - Jonty Faull

None will be available at 33, however I consider Tom Sims to be in the fringe of that group, so if he's available at 33 (possible, if he doesn't go from Pick 25-32)
The bottom ager Stumpf is the pick IMO with scope for genuine improvement.

Beautiful fluid kicking action
Marking looks good
Running capabilities are at a very high level
Great balance and looks decent below his knees
Body type is made for the modern game.
Has real potential to develop and also grow in height from his current 196cms.

I like ….. gotta a bit of Chol about him with his field kicking to advantage to a team mate.

Sorry for my ignorance in this years draft given our first pick is 33 but this kid 1st in the 20mtr sprint and standing vertical jump in combine wtf with his size and height and liken him to Cameron …… buy buy buy. I wonder what the knock is?

Had posted below SS of another poster's take on draft talent, others can say if this is accurate. Davo-27 can you help.

Line 40 says Contested game is weakness.

If we trade down as Cal says then he is a likely target if we have done the work on him.

Pies fan review of Stumpf

That table shows exactly why Gerreyn would be such a good get. Strengths in power, athleticism and contested marking are key. Tank can be developed, decision making can be taught.

Cal's write up talks about Lions list management team working on maximising every draft point. They seem switched on and if Levi is bid on at 5 as predicted then pick 27 will be on the table. Hope our list management team is switched on to grab it. Can be switchroo or the trade I proposed earlier.

Get pick 27 and if our target player is not available, I bet Cats will table their F1 to grab Alex Dodson.

Blues may also be looking to trade up from pick 38, they are the other party.

Cal's writeup for us is

Jack Ough. Please pick this kid. For the meme value alone

I like this line of thinking, especially if it improves the hand for 2025.

While everyone is scrambling to move up the order this year, our list profile is outstanding so it's not a bad move to use that to really get some value and come hard at a player that needs a trade in 12 months

This is where the lions 27 and dons 28/31 picks are interesting. Say we did a deal with the dons 28/53 for 33 and f2 for example. 28 will likely get us a good player or if we are trading back we can trade it out for a decent future pick better than blues f2. 53 should come in around 8 spots to 45 after bid matching which is likely to get Stumpf or I think it’s likely one of Sims Gerreyn Nicholls gets that far as well. Not a huge win but everything counts.

LATE MAIL PHANTOM DRAFT

1) Richmond – Sam Lalor
2) North Melbourne – Finn O'Sullivan
3) Carlton – Jagga Smith
4) Adelaide – Sid Draper
5) Brisbane – Levi Ashcroft (matching Melbourne's bid)
6) Melbourne – Harvey Langford
7) Richmond – Josh Smillie
8) St Kilda – Tobie Travaglia
9) Gold Coast – Leo Lombard (matching St Kilda's bid)
10) Essendon – Isaac Kako (matching St Kilda's bid)
11) St Kilda – Alix Tauru
12) Melbourne – Xavier Lindsay
13) Richmond – Bo Allan
14) Richmond – Jobe Shanahan
15) West Coast – Murphy Reid
16) Port Adelaide – Harry Armstrong
17) Fremantle – Joe Berry
18) Greater Western Sydney – Jack Whitlock
19) Greater Western Sydney – Taj Hotton
20) Western Bulldogs – Cooper Hynes
21) Richmond – Jesse Dattoli
22) Brisbane – Sam Marshall (matching Sydney's bid)
23) Sydney – Jonty Faull
24) Richmond – Matt Whitlock
25) Greater Western Sydney – Harry Oliver
27) Richmond – Jasper Alger
28) Richmond – Luke Trainor
29) Western Bulldogs – Christian Moraes

Trade with Dons should be a switcharoo, get 28 for our F2 before Kako bid and after bid trade 33 for their F2. Saints can do the same too, so if we want this, may need to add steaknives. But if we have deal with Lions for same switcharoo, then gives flexibility in dealing with scum.
If Lions bids are at 5(Levi) & 22(Sam), they need only around 2250pts and have 2475 already. Given their later picks will gains another 200-300+ pts, they are likely to consider either direct trade for 27(703pts) for futures or a switcharoo like above if they want to enter back in to draft after Marshall bid.
27 for Blues F2+71+77 before Levi bid
& after Marshall bid
33 for Dons F3 + later picks

Once we have 27(after Levi bid) we can listen to offers. Cats F1+45 for 27+Dons F3 would be good, so will various other combos.

Don't mind if we ignore all this and trade back to Blues pick 38 as well as collect F2's or F3's as we go. Seems like there will still be good 10-15 players after that Top 30 list of Cal's

SEN's top 60 draft( lots of errors like ignoring Cody NGA status)

Honestly, if someone from that 23-30 range falls to our pick and we rate them, we may as well pick them up.

We're in the position with our list profile, albeit a bit short of KPFs - which I think the Battle & Barrass trades help ease (e.g. Battle or Sicily forward) and also Scaife as the forgotten depth piece.

I still feel we'll need a pure key forward, especially once Gunston retires, but for now, that 33 could very well catch us a slider..

And I wouldn't trade back unless we're still in a position to land someone we like with our first pick this year (say a ~40s pick + F2 from Geelong or something)

Our picks Arlo enough if we want him...
Arlo looks a good player here:
Not sure what went wrong at Collingwood, but they do seem to have an abundance of small forward/mids, so much so they gifted us Ginnivan. Delisted after 2 years seems like he didn't get much of a chance either.

Stumpf is also a good one. Reminds me of Gunston.

This is a great draft for a squad build.
So many good prospects deep into the draft.
And it seems the taller players are most likely to be taken after pick 30.

The thing I like about Stumpf other than seemingly having modern game attributes, is all the feedback is how focused he is on getting better and how open he is to feedback. If you have someone of that size with elite speed and agility and good skills my that’s something to work with.

I am already completely content with what the Hawks have done this off season.

Best 22 : Battle & Barrass,
Developing Senior list. : ? & Anderson
Category B Rookies : Jaime Uhr-Henry and Matt Hill

I will be happy with whomever the Hawks Pick at 33, or if they trade up the draft for a player, or trade drown for value and a player. None of it is a concern in my book.

A quick analysis of the list areas I'd look at:

I don't think the Hawks are carrying any list cloggers and so we are now looking for possible upgrades on what are already very good players ... or players likely to retire soon.

1st: the replacements for the likely End Of Season-2025 retirements:
- Gunners: Calsher is his understudy with Battle, Sic, Scrim, McCabe and Scaife as others who can do the 3rd tall role.

From the National draft: the Whitlocks and Faull (unlikely to be possible and I would not spend the capital to reach), Barrat and Stumpf. I like both. Nichols as well but only if his kicking efficiency has been thoroughly recorded and deemed acceptable / fixable (would be a good defender which we do not need... too much like Cameron Bruce in his kicking...unreliable).

- Breust: Hardwick, Butler, maybe Seamus and even Day are options. And then there is Matt Hill who may slot in very quickly. I am so very excited by Matt.

From the National draft: Hotton if the Hawks go all in... unlikely to be possible. Hynes also works, but I would not reach.

Now the backups for our Best 22.

- Lewis and Chol: Ramsden and Scaife

From the draft: Needs to be power player. If possible Shanahan (I don't think he is possible), Sims or Gerreyn.

Sims for me.
I don't know what to think about Kayle Gerreyn. Will his obvious talents translate to AFL level or will his deficiencies hold him back. And does his frame and agility make him a certainty to have an ACL injury? If so, why has he not already done one? Gerreyn confounds me.

- Worpel: HH, CMac, Ward?.

From the Draft: Cody Anderson, Jack Ough.

Cody Anderson, the Beast from the East, is coming to the Hawks. I hope the Hawks make him basically skip the preseason and have him work with a specialist to completely break down his game, which reminds me of a good VFL player, ... and then rebuild it so that it becomes AFL level. It took Brad Sewell 5 years to be close to AFL decent in his disposal. Cody will have the luxury of not being needed at AFL level for at least 2 years, and the certainly that he will be on the list for that time. For mine he should make his weaknesses his strength (his disposal), as we already know his strengths (being a beast) are 100% AFL ready.

Overall: I don't care who the Hawks pick as we have already crushed this off season. I like Sims, Barrat, and have some interest in Ough and Stumph, but frankly, once Matt Hill chose the Hawks, on top of Battle and Barrass, the ND is now just GRAVEY
